So I recently bought a new double din, the kenwood ddx419. After talking to a local audio installer, he informed that this specific deck would not fit in my B6 A4 avant. I found this very odd, as crutchfield says it fits and i have seen people on here with the same deck and car. The guy was telling me that the dash would actually have to be cut in order for this deck to fit properly.
Has anyone else installed this in a b6 with no issues?
Also, in terms of wiring harnesses and dash kits, where is the best place to look for this? A lot of local places are having issues with getting me these two pieces.
The car in question has the Bose Symphony OEM deck in there right now, if that makes a difference
Appreciate the help guys

I got my dash kit from Enfig. Since my Clarion didn't come with a cage, I got this kit: http://enfigcarstereo.com/ENFIG_RMK8_A4B67.html. It works great and looks awesome. For a wiring harness, I picked up the PacAudio C2R-Audi. I know Enfig also has some harnesses that I hear work great. I had the Bose Symphony deck as well.
As for if that deck will fit, I can't see how it wouldn't. But I don't have personal experience with it.

Thanks for the info BD. I was actually looking at that dash kit as well on Enfig. How does it fit? Does it color match your interior well. Also, where did you get that harness from, do you happen to have a link?
I was also a little surprised when the shop said the deck wouldn't fit. I later checked on Crutchfield and it listed that deck as compatible with my car. The installer said it was too deep and that's why the dash needed to be cut.
If anyone has this deck in their B6, please let me know. I really don't want to return this, as i really like the deck.
Lastly, I currently have SiruisXM wired up in the car on the factory deck. Do I need to get an adapter for the sat radio to work with the Kenwood deck, or will it be plug and play when I switch it over?
Thanks guys

The dash kit from Enfig looks perfect, IMO. The fit is awesome. I didn't even need to use the trim ring that came with my Clarion deck.
I got the harness from a local stereo shop. But Enfig also sells it. It's this one: http://enfigcarstereo.com/PAC_C2R_AUDI.html. It seems a little wasteful, as it's actually 2 harnesses, and you use the one that matches your OEM deck. But it was very easy to install.
The depth of the deck you have is almost identical to the depth of mine (6.4" for mine vs 6.4375" for yours), so I think it should fit. Granted, mine was a little tight, but I think that's because I didn't do the best job with cable management.

I was looking at that exact wiring harness and thought the same thing, I'm only gonna use one so it would be a waste for both of those. I'm gonna dig around a little more and see if i can find any fitment issues with this deck in my car. I really don't see it being a problem, but a local audio shop is convinced i have to cut my dash to make it fit.
thanks again for the info BD, much appreciated

Thanks for the reply Christian. I did have some questions about the parts list you laid out. In terms of the wiring harness, what is the difference between this http://enfigcarstereo.com/ENFIG_SRWH_AU2.html and this http://enfigcarstereo.com/ENFIG_RWH_AUD1B.html
To me it looks like the first one just has an extra harness which i will never use, and I was under the impression that with the second one, I will just have to run my own accessory wire.
Also, I was just looking at getting some clarification as to which antennae adapter I would need (single or dual). I know i need the amplified one, but not sure as to why i would need dual over single.
Lastly, what exactly does the kenwood plug and play adapter do that the harness doesnt?
Thanks again

The only difference between the RWH wiring harnesses is that the SRWH will give you ignition illumination and VSS. Your car will not give out the reverse and Parking brake outputs (only B7) The SRWH also has the Steering wheel controls that you will not use.
Your can has 2 antenna wires. Dual antenna adapter will give you better reception.
The PNP will connect to both the RWH and the SRWH on one end and to the radio on the other end so you do not have to splice any wires.

ok this makes much more sense now in terms of the harnesses. I think the RWH will suffice as I won't have any use for the steering wheel control function or the VSS as the deck doesnt have GPS.
If the PNP adapter makes the install a bit easier, I may consider ordering that as well, thanks for the heads-up. I also noticed that you guys two dual antennae adapters, what is the difference between these two. I did notice that the one you quoted me was for some models between 2002-2007. I was originally looking at this one here http://enfigcarstereo.com/ENFIG_AAA_VWAUD5.html

The 4 and 5 are not compatible with your car. only the 2.
No worries. its complicated with all the options out there.
