Looks like a lot of fun. I might be able to run street class. I'd want to get some more track time in with my car though before doing any wheel to wheel fast laps.

This is a Time Trail competition, not wheel to wheel. Its run in conjunction with a standard HPDE format. You just get a transponder and hook it up to your car to track your lap times. 1rst, 2nd, and 3rd fastest lap times for each class get trophies. We are still working on sponsors for 2013 for prizes.

Everyone that participates gets points. I actually got 2nd runner up in a competition in 2011 just based on my attendance. I was still a relatively new driver, and my car was not at the level as the top guys, but I kept coming back because it was fun, and I was becoming a better driver in the process.

Where's the Enthusiast class on this form, http://www.extremespeedtrackevents.com/images/pdf/extreme_awd_comp_form.pdf? Hopefully, I can attend a few events this year. I'll try to make it out to BW in February since I've been wanting to see what lap time I can do in the S4. [:D]

Cool, thanks. [cool] My car will have zero mod points, it's a showroom stock car with better tires and brake pads only. [:D]

BTW, do you know what are the "approved dyno"?

Johns_EvoIXSE
01-04-2013, 11:10 AM
Where do you live? Technically, the approved Dyno is Road Race Engineering in Santa Fe Springs, CA. They use a Dynapack. Talk to Mike W and tell him you need to do a pull for the 2013 AWD Competition. Its about 25 bucks for a pull.

We have made exceptions for people that live super far from Road Race.

I was just curious. I won't do the whole season anyway, so I shouldn't be a "thread" to anybody. [:D] I asked in case anyone wants it when I go to the BW event. I had dyno'd my car back in 2010 at Church Automotive, and my car is still the same.....meaning still stock, no mods. [:(]

Yes, you will have to bring it with you to Buttonwillow. FYI, Church reads pretty high compared to RRE's dynapack. What did you put down? Under 350WHP?

Vwong, RRE dyno'd my S4 just for baseline numbers a few months ago. I know they recently dyno'd a tuned S4 as well. So, i would trust them with your car and i was also a good customer of their since i brought them 3 Evo's in the past... For shits & giggles, ask them to compare your dyno pulls to Simon's pulls to see how close they are since we're both bone stock engine wise...

Good comparision. There is some pretty solid evidence that Church's reads high. :) Both of you should be good for enthusiast class if you're under 2.5 points worth of mods.

Miss the good ol'days when i kept 2 sets of tires in my apartment living room along with jugs of E85 fuel too. Chicks really digged it [:D]

Thanks, man! This Buttonwillow event will be another one for me to compare lap times. My quickest in the 335i on BW 13CW is 2:08.55, so I'm guessing I would be around 2:06 in the S4. [:)]

Johns_EvoIXSE
01-09-2013, 09:13 AM
So you think 2:06 on AD08's? That's pretty quick for a stock car! What was the weather conditions?

I'm currently at a 1:59.407 on BW 13CW - 330whp, 3376lbs w/driver, Hankook RS-3, KW-V3 suspension. No other Evo has went that fast at Buttonwillow with as little mods as I have on a street tire, as far as I know. I still have stock turbo, cams, bottom end, and aero. Stock turbo and aero record maybe? LOL!

But I'm in street class, so don't worry, ha-ha! And I can't make every event due to my commitment to Redline Time Attack this year.

When I did the 2:08.55 time in the 335i, it was cold but sunny and clear (January 2012, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGUBzImgd2M). Given the results I've had so far, I really think that I can do a 2:06 in the S4. We'll see on 2/16. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate.

I wonder if I have seen you before. I was at all the west coast events in the year before RTA changed ownership. I wasn't competing though, I was working tech and grid mostly.

I attended an eXtremeSpeed night even last year, it was their first night event. I would love to attend another, but I was astounded at how many cars they let out onto Streets of Willow. So many, in fact, that guys were damn near hitting each other, people flying off track, and no one hosting the event seemed to care. By the time the night event started up, I wasnt even interested in being 1 of 25+ cars on to the track. That and the whole event was quite unorganized, running nearly 2 hrs behind by the time of my groups 3rd time out.

"It looks really cool." I heard one of the instructors say about putting your car off track. I'm hoping that this event was a bit of a fluke in the ways of safety neglect, but I spent alot of time and money on my car, and I want to enjoy track events as best I cant without putting myself or my car in harms way. I've held my tongue about this several times, and I think that XS could learn a lot from the TrackDaze events.
