Bought a new Symphony radio from ECS for my 2002 Allroad.
Installed today. Entered radio code.
Radio hangs in "PHONE", can't switch to AM, FM or else.
Is there a way to get it OUT of that "PHONE" setting?

Check the mute connections to the h/u. From memory there are three. One is being triggered.
Check the wiring diagram on top of the h/u to find them.
Do you have nav or bluetooth connected to it?

I don't have bluetooth, phone of NAV connected.
But what happened after several attempts (erase codes with VAGcom), key on/off, radio on/off, start car, etc):
Took it off the hoist it was sitting on for 2 weeks, and drove a few miles; radio suddenly kicked in and working fine now.
I have NO idea how it got out of the 'phone' setting.
Other issue: The ECS radio (even so I specifically provided car details (2002 Audi Allroad, and even the VIN) when ordering from ECS) does NOT seem to fit my car correctly.
a) I had to force the radio in, since the sides were squeezing hard against the car surround trim.
b) there is a gap now between radio and HVAC
I assume they send me a Symphony 1 made for the S4?

If it was an S4 unit, you would know. You'd have a largish gap (about 5mm) between the base of the Symphony and the HVAC.
Might be better to put your concerns to ECS directly.

Google the part number. It should tell you what car it's for.

Done right away; still no response from ECS !!!
