i know there are a bunch of DIY's but the search wont let me find them because there are too many V1 or valentine 1 results.

anyways, i got a V1 and savvy for christmas and want to get this installed asap! I wanted to see if anyone installed a savvy unit and then connected the V1 to that for power. i prefer this so i dont need to hardwire the V1 and can remove it as i please.

how can i run the RJ11 power cord from the V1 to the savy in the most concealed way? I will probably mount it to the left of the rear view mirror and then it is easy to just push the wire between the headliner and the windshield and then in between the windshield and the a-pillar trim>=? Or is it easier to remove interior trim pieces (i am sure this is easier but am afraid of the air bag and breaking any clips).

I just got the savvy for Xmas and installed it yesterday. I have the cord run up by the fuse box and then pushed into the headliner, there's some install threads on here with pictures of how the wire is concealed which is what I followed. Haven't gotten a chance to test it out yet with the weather here though but it fires up with the ignition just like it should!

The only trim you need to remove is the A-pillar airbag cover. I ran the cable for the V1 up under the headliner along the top of the windshield. If you pop off the little plastic piece on the A-pillar that says "airbag" on it, you'll find a screw underneath that will let you remove the whole trim piece. Run the cable across the top of the pillar, then replace the trim piece. Then I ran the cable down the weatherstripping, and tucked the excess into the space behind the fuse block. Plug the Savvy into the OBD port and run its cable up to meet the power cable from the V1. Once installed, everything is nice and hidden and out of the way.

Yup i did the same, now if I could only get it to stop freaking out all the time ! Anyone recommed settings to minimize falses, mine seems better on the blind spot mirror sensing since using filter J and T but it still FREAKS out on the "your speed is" signs around the city ???

I heard turning off POP helps with this. Did you try that? This is the first thing I plan to do.

Nothing escapes the mighty Spectre IV+, it will induce the oscilloscope in your turned off V1 from 500 meters as long as the power cord is connected, all cruisers carry them because RDs are illegal on commercial vehicles in all states.

Notice also how the cop will bend over and take a visual sweep of the cab when you carry a radar detector, even if you threw it on the floor or put it in the glovebox, the maximum allowable fine idea was already preconceived in his head before he even stepped out of the cruiser. I work in the ER and get to chat with troopers from time to time, none have denied the above so far.

I'd invest in Blinder bricks with brake light linked kill switch if I were to go rogue. Alas i am too high in the foodchain to be able to afford the consequences.

Well for one detectors are legal here in BC Canada, and second I have a Lidatek jammer system that is 40% installed awaiting my lazy ass to complete its setup to protect against laser.

just did the install, took only 15 minutes being careful not to damage anything. i didnt need to pull off the trim along the a-pillar. Now time to test it out, although dont have time to hit the highway right now...
