I have recently been having problems when I am driving fast the car gets to about 80 and then the car won't go any faster. The rpms start to go up then it seems like it kicks in and start to accelerate again after a noticeable pause. Any idea what this could be? Coil packs, LPFP, fuel filter, timing belt slipping?? I am running an HPFP from APR. I have done a search and found nothing like this?? No CELs. The RPMS are about 3500. The turbo is spooling fine?? This just started happening and not all the time.[confused] It happens at about 65 mph but closer to 80 mph more often.

Sounds like a fuel cut to me, if you already have a HPFP upgrade. I would check your follower or Upgrade my PRV

If you had revo you canes with the aggressiveness of the tune to determine if your getting a cut or not.
Will need a bit more info to help any further

What other info. you need?? I changed the cam follower to upgraded KMD when I put the HPFP on about 10k ago. I will pull it off this weekend and check it.

If that KMD follower failed your motor could be toast.

I was getting exactly what you describe too, usually when I had the cruise control on at 100kmh+ and then i'd tap into the gas, would get this split second delay... this was even on way back from the dealer after having the fuel thrust sensor and intake flap motor recall done.

I scanned the car minutes after it happened once and never had any codes stored.

I've changed the plugs and coilpacks (found a cracked one) and haven't remembered it doing it since, but i also have not had a long highway cruise in months.

Any codes, what oct program are you running. I have seen a KMd follower fail at 10k miles just recently actually.

"The car won't go any faster" that could mean a lot of things. Fuel cuts are like when your really trying to accelerate and suddenly the car will not create positive pressure (boost) for around 20 seconds or so.

I don't get it bots, why? obviously you're upset with the AZ group, but this is the most meaningless way to attack, its like a 12 year old repeating everything that someone else says.

It sounds more like this (fuel cut).....So you think changing PRV will be a good place to start?? It usually happens when I am trying to acccelerate rapidly.

Happens to me right around the same speed, I don't have cruise control on though, but am just maintaining pace, go to tap the gas and there is just a really slight delay, does it a few times then is driving normal again. Only does it around 60mph, and only when I lightly push the gas pedal. It's almost like the gas pedal is not getting enough pressure, and so it gets confused as to whether you are pushing it or not.

No no... can't be... he is far too busy posting on any and every forum that has anything to do with Audi/VW about how he got screwed over and payed big bucks...

OP... sounds like a fuel cut to me...

I would start with the follower before the PRV. When you know your system is at is optimum and you still get fuel cuts, that's when you should upgrade the PRV. Check out John@Hpfpupgrade when you do. I personally have the rs4 rail valve

Also a clogged filter could create a fuel cut. When is the last time you replaced that?

Pulled mine more than once, its not that.

DRAKLORE mentioned fuel filter, now that could be it in my case, it has been a while since I changed it.

i understand, but normally with fuel cut symptoms could be A LOT of things - follower, pump, filters, regulators, etc. but with OPs situation, especially with the KMD follower and all, 10k miles and the follower probably wore completely through. i was in this exact situation. kept getting fuel cuts at WOT. changed the fuel filter twice, replaced the PRV, all the good stuff. in the end it was the goddamn KMD follower. John at HPFP actually told me that KMD's followers weren't upgraded at all. they were actually softer than OEM and some bullshit armoloy coating that didnt do shit.

Understood, I should have put in my case its not the follower, could be different for the OP though.

Never. Doh!!! I am going to pull the pump and check the follower. Change the fuel filter. Thanks for all the advice!! Appreciated!! Will change or upgrade PRV if still having problems.

Update: Changed the fuel filter. Car runs better. However, after draining fuel filter found pink liquid that is heavier that the gas. Does not mix with the gas??? It is heavier than than the gas. Do not know what it is?? I was thinking maybe a fuel detergent?? Any other ideas??

However, still getting the fuel cut around 80 mph. Checked KMD cam follower. Still intact but dented on top. Next step order and change PRV.
