IPad 2 Charging in Car help

Hello, im running an audio cable that has both 3.5mm headphone jack and USB on one end and an Apple connector on the other. I like the headphone jack as i find i get better sound out of them most of the time. Now my question is can i run the usb end to a power source and charge it as well? I was doing so and it wasn't charging? I then did some research and people say you need special adapters to charge IPads in cars as they need more voltage then say an Iphone. Does anyone have any ideas?

You need a 2 amp charger... If You are looking for an adapter this is the only one that charges an iPad..
