if any one posted this thread before, please forgive me. my car is due for 35k service, mine is CVT FWD. i will get the transmission fluid flushed during the service. i have question regarding this as how reliable a CVT engine going forward ?? i want to make a decision whether i should stay with this car or sell it based on the reliability.
its fine if you take very very good care of it. Shitty if you ever want to do mods. It will break easily if you add more power but if you keep it stock and baby it, it will be fine

I had mine two years and it seemed like the only thing reliable on the car!

I'm at 50K, had it chipped since 10K, no tranny problems so far.

I dont know about B7's but in the B6's the CVT trans were so so mad, they would also go out so if they are somewhat the same you would have to baby it

Maintain it properly (which it sounds like you are) and it should be fine. The B7 is an improvement over the previous versions, which I've read were problematic.
And, anything more than your basic stage 1 tune is not recommended. They simply can't handle the added torque long term.

I dont know where you get your information or facts... But my B7 (2007) CVT is at Stage 2 for the past 20+ thousand miles without issues.

Whose doing your cvt service? Believe it or not, best price in my area was from the dealership. Indi shops wanted at least $50 more. Not something I would trust to just anyone, anyway.

The flush is on the schedule for 35k service, it should be free.
OP, I had a CVT from 28k to 55k, about half of that was stage 2+ and I never had a single issue. I got rid of it cause I wanted more power and going beyond stage 2+ is not advisable with a CVT... and FWD (IMO).

Why would it be free? Well, unless you purchased a service contract that covers it, of course. No maintenance beyond the first oil change has been free of charge for me.

Lol trade for Quattro I only say that because why would you want anything that could limit your potential

CVT's are known to be problematic for above-stock power levels. THey simplky aren't built for the added torque. They might last for a while but they will break eventually. Not like the Tiptronic is any better (in my experience) but YMMV.
OP if your car is only at 35k I honestly wouldnt worry about it. Just be sure to change fluids and filter every 35k for the tranny and you're good to go.

I bought mine used from a Chrysler stealership, no additional warranty or anything, just the typical 4 year 50(?)K factory warranty and I got all my services done for free including the larger 35k service with CVT flush. I remember that one vividly because when I looked over what they had and hadn't done the flush wasn't included because they thought it was a tip. I left with a rental for another day while they took care of that and nothing was charged either time.
OP, I mentioned before I traded the CVT in and while I traded it for an S4, the main thing that was missing from the CVT was quattro... adding power to a nose heavy FWD sedan isn't very satisfying/rewarding.
