It looks like someone used one of those emergency glass break hammers on my back glass. I just cant believe people go around screwing other people over like this.
Does anyone know how much one of these might cost? is it possible to replace with one off of a salvage car?
Anything helps.

That sucks. Did they steal anything? Insurance will probably cover it, I'd give them a call.

no, it looks like they did it for kicks; i say that because they broke the far back glass and not sides.

If you have comprehensive they will more than likely cover it. They covered mine.

I'm assuming you don't have glass coverage? It's best to go with a new one, but if you pick up used make sure the defroster lines are perfect.

i have comprehensive. In FL only the winshield is covered free of charge under insurance.

find a glass shop and have it changed some people would rather pay a deductible and might have their rates go up then spend like $300 one time for some strange reason

my range rover sport got keyed while I was at school one day. Must be a florida thing.

My first car got keyed down the length of both sides when I got a promotion at work over some other people.
Some people are just idiots and need to be taught the Golden Rule.
But anyway, we replaced a rear window, known in the biz as a "back light", on our Toyota Celica. Pretty easy and straight forward. Most salvage yards here have the glass for between $50 and $200, you just have to shop around.
If you don't want to make a huge mess of broken glass and all that remove the old window with something like piano wire to slice between the glass and the frame of your car to cut through the glue. You'll need at least two people for that method but if done carefully you can remove the window whole.
If not, you could always put down a tarp in the back seat and then just go to town on the window, pulling it out piece by piece and removing the old adhesive with chisels. The glass will probably still end up in every little crevice though!

Safelite sucks. Find a reputable local glass repair shop and see how much for a quote for their glass and OEM glass. OEM glass would be preferred.

that sucks? any chance it could have been something outside of vandalism or maybe just a rogue rock or something? i'm just thinking that it would be so weird for someone to just go after a little corner of the glass or the car....i mean you would think if they wanted to see glass shatter they would put a rock through it or something right?

I think rock would have left more of a mess. I have a mitt romney sticker on it so i was thinking someone didnt agree and smashed it. There have been kids walking through the parking lot at work as a shortcut so thats a possibility as well. No use in pursuing who did it because it will be impossible to find the culprit. No rocks or objects that could have done this around my car when it happened, it was the first thing i looked for. Its a pretty big parking lot and maxed out due to Christmas shopping so the chances of something just falling on it are minimal IMO.
Safelite is an option, but if anyone knows of a reputable (and better value) shop in the Broward area please post.

That sucks, my previous car had the windshield shattered at the gym one morning(2am, and it's close to public housing high-rises). Since then I have full glass coverage, no deductible for any glass repair.

Oh a Mitt Romney sticker? I'm betting an asteroid from planet Kolob broke off and made its way through our atmosphere and smashed the window! "God" has a funny and ironic sense of humor I've read. [:p]
Or some "Obama supporter" smashed it

Sorry to hear that and see that man, I am always worried when I park up at school, damn people have no respect
This is all romneys fault! if he hadn't run for president none of this shit would have happened!
Most likely you can remove remove the glass yourself ifyou spend an hour or two trying to figure it out and calling some shops for tips. I would suggest you:
1. Spend some time on figuring out how to remove it.
2. Remove it.
3. Find a salvage yard with a b7 and buy the glass from them, take the glass and the car to a reputable glass shop, it will probably end up costing you around $500 all together so its basically what your deductible would be.

$200 new, used should be much cheaper, plus less than 3 hours to install at a glass shop? or maybe you will be brave enough to install it yourself! DIY FTW![wrench]

Picked the glass up from a local that is parting his a4 out. I gave him $120 for it; installer is working on it now, $100 in labor. Watched the guy work on it and doesnt seem too difficult IF you have the proper tools. The only downside (or upside?) is the glass i bought has 2 layers of 5% tint on it which is dark as hell; ill give it a whirl and see if it works out.

That ish was waaay too dark; when i make my illegal u-turns the first thing i do is look in the rear view. Removed it and re-tinted with 15% as i had it on the old one; I do tints so no big. I have 15% all around and 30% on the windshield perfect mix IMO; ive been running this setup for 2 years. Havent had any problems with LE; now if i was driving a Chrysler 300 or shitty equivalent (I.E. charguh, challenguh) that would be a different story. Im just glad its fixed, but still pissed this situation cost me some of my Christmas budget.

Dude, definitely lose the sticker. I'd be scared to drive around with a political sticker. People get NASTY about that stuff, and I care nearly enough if anyone knows my political opinions to deal with that stuff. Although, maybe a Dukakis sticker would be funny.

i have comprehensive. In FL only the windshield is covered free of charge under insurance.Man, sorry to hear about the low-life losers that did this to your car.
My advice would be; if you love the car and plan on keeping it for a long time, just pay the deductible (if it's a reasonable amount) and have the installer buy an original OEM glass directly from your local Audi dealer. It doesn't matter how much they costs, all you need to worry about is the deductible. But then again this all depends on how your insurance company works and according to the laws of your state. When my windshield got chipped by a rock, I ended up paying $300 for the deductible and had 'All Star Glass' replaced it. I made sure they ordered the windshield from Audi when we discussed the terms. I then called Audi parts right away and the parts manager confirmed that All Star Glass did reserved one windshield and Gel Pad for a 2008 Audi A4! In 24 hours my windshield was installed with the four ring logo etched on it. I had to have them do it again because of alignment, it was less than half a mm to the left and I can hear wind traveling pass the passenger pillar. Make sure whoever installs them do it right, a slight mm or less off can cause a whole lot of headache and wind noises! Take pictures of it before and after, including how the rubber seals should align then compare them afterwards. You want to catch the little mistakes fast before the polyurethane dries.
Oops! Correction:
I missed the part where you picked up a glass somewhere, so disregard this post.

The percentage is the percent of light allowed through.
