Installed a boost gauge yesterday, drove the car around and it worked perfect. Today I drove around for about 10 miles and nothing happened. All of a sudden, the car felt like it started misfiring, so I drove it carefully, pulled over and checked for a leak sound..Nothing. Made it home safely while it stuttered around a little. Then I went to drive my car, and it would crank then turn off. Try to start it again, rev, and same thing happened. Turns on but dies quickly.

I re-clamped the hose back on, had someone rev the car while i listened and I couldn't hear any leaks, but the turbos natural blow off sound. I'm stuck. Check engine turned on but I cant move the car so I'm not sure how to go about checking the codes.

Boost gauge normally reads -20 give or take a point or two..but sometimes when I first start the car it reads -10 give or take 2

I took it in back in October due to a leaking valve, leaking oil into the spark plugs..The car reacted the same a tad bit. Inside the car I don't hear any leaks either..don't know what it may be. I tapped into the "7" fuse, I'm wondering if that may be an issue. Its for the cars electrical system or something of the sort.

**Ive also noticed oil coming from the valve that fits in with the T fitting. Not sure if thats good or bad either? eek

should I take it into audi for that

Sounds like you have a serious vacuum leak. Is the CEL (check engine light) flashing? Or just on solid? If you can get it started again, pop the hood and listen for a loud hissing (air sound) to try and pinpoint the vacuum leak. Once you get close, put your head down to track it down.

Oil from valve w/ TEE fitting? Oil from anywhere coming out is usually not good but doesn't mean you need to grab your ankles at the dealer quite yet. Post up a pic of the oil situation and we'll see what we can tell you.

Make a $300 or so investment in VCDS (VAG COM). You'll pay the dealer that much in 1 time diagnostic fees, so you might as well do this yourself so you can do it anytime. It pays for itself!

Gotta get those codes though to really help narrow things down.

ok so the -10 when you first start up is normal then when is goes to -20 that is about normal should be -20 to -22 that - number is your vacuum. when you boost dependng on your setup and tune should be what your tune calls for unless stock then 12-15psi sometimes lower. what kind of gauge did you try installing? where did you tap in to get the gauge reading from the IM or somewhere else? take some pics of all the work you have done with the install and then anything else that looks unusual and post back.

my guess is a leak. I have a vag com if you need someone to scan your car.
