Just got VMR 701s (Thank you Pyspeed for a great deal) and am using my old Contis from the Peelers which are 255/35/19 and expected to have to stretch them a bit. I am not a huge fan of the stretch look, but I want to kill off the tread on these first before getting new tires. I figured that performance wise that the stretch was not optimal, but I am surprised at how much more the stretched tires are reacting to road imperfections. They are twice as sensitive as they were before on the peelers. I have not pushed them hard yet, so I can't say how they might react under hard cornering.
So, when I get new tires, I am wondering if I can get away with 265 or 275 widths without rubbing to get more meat on there. I installed ECS 8mms in the rear and 4mm in the fronts and there seems to be some room. Any one running 19x9.5s with 45 offset and 265s or wider? Yeah, I probably need to search and read 600 threads to find my answer, but I am feeling lazy today. [:D]
More pics later, but this is a crap cell pic as I was mounting them. They guy at the tire shop told me that now my car looks like a BMW. Ahh, no. Not really.

The continentals run very very very small. My Vredestein's are not stretched at all on 9.5".

Wow, big difference. Never heard of that brand.

Kumho's also tend to run larger compared to continentals. If you choose to run a 265/35/19, you may experience some minor rubbing on a plastic bumper tab. However, I've been told that it's very easy to modify the tab to get rid of the rubbing noise. I'm not quite sure of the exact location of the tab that rubs because I haven't personally done the modification.

I would love to see pics with your spacers. Which brand did you buy?

I bought ECS 8mm and 4mm kits with lugs. They worked perfectly. I will get some pictures up soon. It has been raining and overcast. I need to get it cleaned up for FixxFest. Anybody going? I am not racing, but will be coming in a caravan from Orlando with about 30 cars. Should be a good show.

Look forward to seeing the difference between the two types of tires, both at 255 on 9.5" rims. Surprises me that there would be much difference.
265 on 9.5 et45 works fine.

Sorry guys, will get some pics tomorrow, but I am going to have to take the spacers off. I think that they might be the cause of shaking I got on the highway today. I am going to take off the fronts first to test. I was so pissed when I got on the highway and it almost shook my teeth out of my head. I had spacers on my R32 without issues. These are sort of hub centric. ECS sizes less than 10mm don't have the lip. So, they slip over the hub and your wheel has to center on what is left of the hub. It seemed like plenty was still sticking out. I also read of others here using these same spacers with other 45 ET VMR Wheels. We will see tomorrow. I know I can't drive two hours to Fixxfest with that shaking.

Some more crap pics this morning before I took the spacers off. They are now off and the car has less shacking, but does still have a little. they are balanced, so i need to investigate further. I might need a hub ring to get the wheels centered when the spacers are on. There appears not to be enough of the hub coming through the spacer to seat the wheel right. I want them back on becuase the fit under the wheel well is perfect. Again, 4mm front, 8mm rear. I am on OE Sports.

Well, turns out that the shop only balanced one side of the wheel. After doing it again correctly with weights on both the inside and outside, my shaking is gone. i will put the spacers back on and try again. Too bad I missed Fixxfest. I hear it was a good event.

IMO you won't see much of a change going to a 265. You're better off with a different brand in 255 like stated above.

Still have shaking that appears to be from the rear wheels with the 8mm spacers. I am wondering if the amount of the hub coming through the spacer is not enough to center the wheel properly. Anyone had this happen? As I understand it, the 10mm and up spacers have their own lip for the wheel to sit in for centering. I have only used 17mm in the past and they had a lip for the wheel to center (old R32). There is zero shaking in the front with 4mm spacers. Below are the spacers that I bought from ECS.

I ordered the same 8mm set for my car. I'll let you know how it goes.

Definitely let me know. I was disappointed that they flop around on the hub a bit. More than 1/8" of play. Other spacers i have had go on snug. Very snug.

Screwed around with the rear spacers again today. I am convinced that the 8mm spacers are not allowing enough of the hub to center the wheel properly. I am going to try to get some hub centric rings to modify into the beveled area. As a quick fix, I used an oring on the hub to help center the beveled area and it helped to an extent. This sucks. The new wheels look great, but the massagemobile is not what I had in mine. I will update if and when the rings work.
