Looking at picking up a set of these for my 18" winter set up. People who have them, can you comment on what you think about them? Does the finish hold up well? Do they do ok with potholes? In general how are their durability? Also looking at the Enkei Raijin? opinions? Thanks

I have used the exact wheels you are asking about last winter.
No issues with durability, ride comfort, potholes, etc. I was happy with those, gunmetal looks good on my moonlight blue car.
Finish is holding up great after 7,000 miles last winter, well, except for when I curbed them, but I don't blame VMR workmanship for that...
Pretty generic look now that everyone is doing 7 and 8 double spoke mesh, but nothing wrong with quality performance as well as the price.

I have the 708s, not the 710s, in gunmetal in 18" for one winter setup (S4), and black 710s in 18" for another winter setup (A4). The 708s have been through two winters of some pretty tough mountain driving, and the 710s through one, and both look almost as good as new. They've dealt with some pretty healthy pothole hits without an issue. I've been happy with them, especially at the price.

Got mine direct from VMR. They even mounted tires on both sets (245/40/18, I think). Tire price was only about a $10 upcharge over Tire Rack + std mounting/balancing charge. Pretty sweet deal to avoid the hassle of getting tires and wheels separately.

Those should like great. I am debating between the v710 and the Hartmann RS4 reps.

VMR's hold up good for me structurally over 3 years. To me, for what consumers spend per wheel, i feel the inner barrels should be painted and cleared all the way back.... They are not. To me...
This becomes a lack of a finished look. Competitors of various brands paint front to back...why not VMR?

I have VMR wheels in gunmetal. 19x9.5 fitment. One season of use so far and they have survived DC roads. No winter use; they are my summer wheels. As far as I can tell, my entire wheel has been painted/clear coated. Not sure what Patrick is referring to when he says the wheels are not painted front to back.

Brook...I am referring to the wheels just being painted a few inches behind the spokes in the field of the barrels, instead of all the way back to the far inside of the barrels. They had simply left like 7" of black paint inside the barrels on a hyper silver colored wheel. Maybe they changed their format in finishing their stuff...rightfully so if they indeed did.

We have been dealing with VMR for years now and have had no serious issues with any of the wheels especially the finish! They stand fully behind your wheel and if you ever had a serious issue that was due to a manufacturer defect, they would handle it right away! That being said, the VMRs V710 Wheel (http://www.modbargains.com/Velocity_V710_18inch_Wheels.html)s are an amazing look on this car! They are in stock in the Hyper Silver and Matte Black Finish in the 18x8.5 et.35 For those that want a bit more aggressive set up you can run the 18x9.5 et.45, but for a winter set up you might want to stick with the 18x8.5. We can also run a nice wheel/tire package with a set of Bridgestone Blizzak or Michelin Pilot Alpins!

That's interesting. Would have sent mine back in a heartbeat if it had shown up like that. Probably too much of a hassle for you to send them back, but I'm curious as to whether they would consider refinishing yours to correct that.

Brook... I had the 18" rs4 reps///710's i think... and yea, they showed up black barrels. I asked one of their people about it, and they kind of blew it off on the phone citing you really downt see that area anyways...chuckle...and BS on that for sure. hope everyones getting the wheels they are paying for these days!

I ordered mine from Mod Bargains. Sitting in my garage waiting for install when the time is right. 18in. Dunlop 3D. VMR 710, gunmetal. My sales experience with Mod Bargains was very good and the wheels arrived well wrapped and in a timely fashion. Actually, much before the car delivery.

What is everyone's opinion of gunmetal 710's or gunmetal 718's on monsoon? Anyone have pics of either of these on monsoon? I've photoshopped them on but looking for some real pics.

I love the 710's the most. Got a set in 19" for winter, but in hyper silver instead. Hyper silver looks good on everything. Stock height.
As far as durability, they are just cast construction of course. I have gone up a curb (rolling speed) with no bends, but don't have too bad of roads over here either. I'd have to say they definitely aren't soft or anything, I wouldn't be worried about that.
I am impressed with the finish though. Only ran them for winter 2011 so far, but snow/ice/salt/grit and they still look perfect. Better quality than I expected.

Wheels are 18 x 8 (I think they are 8, not 8.5)
Tires are 245/40/18
Don't remember the ET as they are still not on the car but in storage so I can't look them up yet.

I have the V710s in gunmetal 18". They are a pain in the ass to clean other than that they are excellent with no problems. Get compliments on them all the time.

Looks good frankO. I'm thinking of going with either the 710 or 718 on Dunlop 3d's. My only decision will be silver or gunmetal. My concern is that the gunmetal on monsoon grey will be to close in color.

Sacker00 - understood...I think either would look good. Part of why I went gunmetal is the expectation that they will generally be "dirtier" in the winter and maybe the darker color will hide some of it.....

Just put mine on. Question for those out there with the V710s. Did you put your Audi oem wheel locks on with the V710s? I could not get them back on and fit the "key" around them due to the size of the holes/sleeves in the wheel to receive the lugs.

Cant find the gunmetal 710's 18x8.5 et35 anywhere. Elliot, thanks for the all help so far, at modbargains recommended me the 18x9.5 et45 on 245/40/18. Anyone running the 18x9.5 et45 and have some pics? I would like to see where they sit on the car. My concern is they might stick out a little far for my liking. Any opinions on this size? Stock 19in peelers are 19x8.5 43mm. How far out would the 18x9.5 et45 710's stick out vs the stock peelers? Thanks
PureMS seems to have them: http://www.purems.com/Products/V710-1885-5112-GM35

Mine are on the way. I will get pictures if no one gets pictures before mine show up and I get them installed. (although I am going to have 255/40-18s for mine) PYSpeed had the 18x8.5 ET 35 IIRC. I was actually wanting to go with 19s, but they couldnt get the tires I wanted because they were on nationwide backorder.
As far as how much futher they will stick out vs your stock ones, it would be 11mm more.

Thanks frankO. Do they stick out from the car at all? Past the fender? If you could, can you take some pics looking down the side of the car so I can see how they sit. Do you like the stance? Thanks in advance. You've been a great help.

Yes will do, no problem. I was a bit concerned with mounting 245 on 9.5. There's a little stretch on the Pirelli Sottozeros but not too much. The stance is sweet.

Here you go...sorry for quality. Did it quickly.
First up...standing at drivers door...rear view of front tire:

Second...standing at rear bumper...rear view of rear tire:

For our third item....standing at front bumper, passenger side, front view of front tire:

And our fourth offering....at front...3/4 view of front tire
http://www.audizine.com/gallery/data/500/medium/3_quarter_front.jpg
The only other thing I would offer up is during the process of tire and wheel selection, I learned that not all tires are made the same "width". Meaning a 245 for one manufacturer may be skinnier or wider depending on their sizing....kind of like shoes or jeans. Hope this helps. Looking forward to seeing what you select!

Thanks FrankO. The stance doesn't look to far off from the stock 19in peelers. Car looks real good. I might end up going with the 701's just to be a little different. Going to be a coin flip.
