Look up prices and you'll find out:

The price you paid would be good to know.

Also, what "bigger turbo"?

First and foremost...What is the maintenance history...??? That will tell you if you have done well or just bought yourself a mechanical challenge.....
180,000 miles is not a big deal, my B6 1.8T had 207,000 miles but all maintenance had been done but at 205+ I was about to pull the motor and tranny...so...

If you list what is the servicing / maintenance record then we can give you a better answer....

oh my bad i paid $1300 for it

Seems like a good deal.

What "bigger turbo" does it have?

11-12-2012, 06:54 PM
the previous owner claims he did his oil changes regularly, had a recent timing belt change, and always ran 93 octane in it

he said it was a stage 3 turbo i believe but it i don't really believe it nor know what to do to check.

Take a picture of the area where the turbocharger is.

Does the car have a boost gauge?

11-12-2012, 07:03 PM
yes the car does have a boost gauge. the previous owner also put a regulator on it set at 5 psi

11-12-2012, 07:06 PM
Too much power right?

11-12-2012, 07:13 PM
I'm going to go ahead and guess this regulator is limp mode and the turbo is a K04

I doubt it's a "bigger" turbo......it's in limp mode my guess the fool probably tried to put a MBC on it and turned it all the way up sent the car into limp mode and then decided to sell it as a mechanics special.....

Should of asked for our opinions before purchasing the car. And there's no such thing as a "stage 3" turbo.

Stage 3 is just a gt28rs, at least if you go by APR.
Whether or not the OP having one, remains to be seen.
