So, hit the strip (Great Lakes Dragaway, Union Grove WI) yesterday to quantify the improvement between STaSIS v1.0 tune and the v2.0 tune update that I recently had installed. In normal day-to-day driving, the car feels MUCH more responsive, with beefier low- and mid-range responsiveness being the most obvious improvement, and I knew it would be faster in the 1/4 mile, but the question was just how much faster?

DA conditions were OK - not as good as I'd hoped, and not as good as when I ran my previous best of 12.797 @ 109.07 mph.:

DA that day was ~889 feet, while yesterday it was more like 1250 feet, but it was still a nice day for some racing. There were 40-50 cars at the track, everything from a rail dragster (ran 6.5xxx @ 190-something) to a new F10 M5 (he ran 12.2xx @ 120.xxx mph), to several clapped out but highly-tuned Civics (nobody in that group broke 15 seconds) Had some fun runs against a lightly-tuned E55 amg (won 2 out of 3 races due to quattro traction) and a Dinan-fettled E39 M5 (smoked him every time), while I was pipped at the finish line by a turbocharged E46 M3. I was ahead literally until the line - he won by just 0.05 seconds, though he ran 116+ mph to my 109-ish.

So, what were the results? 12.608 @ 109.36 mph, nearly a 2 tenths improvement for STaSIS v2.0 vs STaSIS v1.0.:
http://images3a.snapfish.com/232323232%7Ffp7346%3A%3Enu%3D32%3B2%3E857%3E96%3A% 3EWSNRCG%3D37487449%3A7337nu0mrj http://images2.snapfish.com/232323232%7Ffp543%3C%3A%3Enu%3D32%3B2%3E857%3E96%3 A%3EWSNRCG%3D388486%3C944337nu0mrj

Corrected for DA, v1.0 would be 12.779 @109.207, while v2.0 would be 12.563 @ 109.765.

Comparing timeslips, the results seem to bear out what STaSIS has said about v2.0 - it doesn't produce much more peak power than v1.0, but that it provides more "area under the curve" that can be felt in normal driving situations.

A couple of other things to note:

Up to a point, these cars do seem to prefer hot-lapping. My fastest runs were all the 3rd or 4th in a series with no downtime between runs. After 4 or 5 in a row, the results fell off just slightly, and when I waited 15 minutes between runs, those were the slowest runs of the day.

I also ran 12.6xxx more than 10 times yesterday, as compared to JUST ONE SINGLE RUN EVER under 12.8 with the v1.0 tune, so that tells me that the difference between the tunes is ~2 tenths - pretty substantial.

Finally, something else sorta cool: 3 different people came up and told me that my car was gorgeous - that felt good! Also, the E55, F10 M5, and E39 M5 drivers were all surprised to see my "little" S4 pretty deep into the 12s! [:d]

Depending on the weather, I might head back next weekend to see if I can grab that elusive 12.5xxx, but I'm happy with the results regardless. My car feels FAST on the street - much more so than it did with v1.0. So, if you're on the fence about updating your v1.0tune, or wondering whether the STaSIS tune is worth the money, I'd say it's well worth the investment, and I can pretty much guarantee you'll be happy with the results!

Oh, and finally - I was there by myself, so I don't have any witnesses that I can quote, but here's proof of my car number, and that I was actually at that track running those times yesterday!

A tenth and 2 MPH in the 1/8 definitely bares out the area under the curve improvement! My logging shows the same thing with less boost valve opening and lots more timing throughout.

Thanks for sharing this info with the community. Are you stock other than the tune?

That's awesome. I LOVE my STaSIS v2 tune! I can deff agree your hot lap experience... the more spirited you drive, the more responsive and agressive the tune gets...

FYI: v2.0 update is free for STaSIS v1.0 owners.

ECU must be removed and shipped to STaSIS for reprogramming.

Great stuff, ZCD!! Congrats on the new personal best. v2.0 is no joke - that's closing in on Stage II territory. [up]

I have gone back. Best was a 12.4xx with summer tires.

Long ago when you ran the B8 s4 with the Stasis tune 12.6, what octane did you use?

Long ago when you ran the B8 s4 with the Stasis tune 12.6, what octane did you use?

93 octane pump gas (10% ethanol, because that's what we get 'round these parts)

FWIW, later I ran 12.4xxx on that same STaSIS tune and gas...
