Many of you have been asking, so i figured i'd give everyone an update. I'll have pictures shortly, the parts are being photographed at the end of next week. We hope to have systems here by the first week in January (Milltek has a show in the UK opening January 10th, so they'd like to time the release with that). Pricing is still being determined, but there will be a special price for those with existing Milltek systems that would like to upgrade. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me. Also, keep an eye on our FB page (https://www.facebook.com/Griffin.Motorwerke) for photos/videos

If anyone is considering selling their current milltek exhaust to upgrade PM me and I want to be first on the list to buy! Can't afford a whole new system but may be able to work for a used system. I love the milltek exhaust on the B8s. I'm sure people will want to upgrade, I would, so let me be the first to request someones current exhaust.
I should clarify, non-resonated exhaust system.

Do you think that they would be open to giving the design to someone who knew how to execute the idea? If this is a question of building a module that can be installed in an exhaust system, I know some people who could possibly execute the idea. Do you have an idea of why this project may die?

no clue, the ECU module they have for the exhaust works really well. it may have been the increase in overall price of the exhaust system? i really don't know but am also disappointed as they were going to do more with that ecu module.

Quick update for everyone. They're still moving forward with this. They've made a couple changes that have delayed the release. First of all, there's has been alot of requests to make the system louder, so they're doing some re-development on the front parts of the system. Also, they're moving to an electronically operated valve (vs. vacuum operated) and have run into a little supply hiccup but that should be resolved shortly.
richib86
01-28-2013, 08:41 AM
will they be keeping the and developing that ecu further greg?
MilltekSportUSA
01-28-2013, 08:52 AM
Yes, the module will always be required. The liability with solely manually operated valves is too great. Accidental closing of the valves at high RPM could potentially cause engine damage.

If you had to guess. What do you think the current time frame to release is? Also, does Milltek want a Nogaro test car in the midwest?

Last I heard it wasn't going ahead. Well it was but the "automatic valves" would not be part of the exhaust.
Those would be the ones. As Rich will tell you, when we chatted at WF18, there was tremendous potential. That feature is not part of it. Milltek offered little to no support or information afterwards. They also opted to let Griffin handle everything, instead of me, shutting me out.
I'll hint that there is a reason there is no more Mtk product listed on my website anymore.
If you've known me (the work I did for the B8 S4 system/Milltek) under a prior username on this forum, you'll know why I'm a touch bitter [>_>]

Can't wait for the exhaust!! Im so impatient about waiting, i was thinking of welding the rs4 rear suction with my awe, but it didnt work because of the vacuum system which is just for the rs4!

At this point I honestly wish I hadn't waited this long for this system. It must be close to two years now and still we are just being strung along with no actual timetable. Sure enough it's going to come out and be something like 5-6K which would be too pricey anyways. Probably just going to purchase the resonated Milltek and be done with it.

Not trying to goad anyone here. Just expressing my frustrations inside a community of others who likely are feeling the same way. Milltek never made me any promises that this system would be released on any specific date or at all. There is clearly a reason that I have been waiting for this system to come out, but I may just give in and buy a different one of their systems since I have no faith that I won't waste another year of my time waiting for this one. The life of the car in my garage will likely only be another 4-5 years and I would like to enjoy those with the ride as much as possible. I love the way these systems sound and have only heard good things about Milltek. Just sucks that this hasn't happened yet.

There's 1 or 2 other exhaust systems that are Valved, just somewhat difficult to get in the US. And the quality I remember is top notch on those systems

Honestly man, just go with the resonated version and be done with it. The valved one is probably gonna be at least 3.5k, and from all accounts, the resonated version is very quiet when you're off throttle but beastly when on. What more can you want lol!

That's what I'm looking for. The whole thing started due to indecision about resonated vs. non and whether non would be too much. Obviously the valved would be ideal in this case. But I'm just going to go with the resonated and not look back.

I just discovered this thread; wow, its been some time form post 1 to post 99! All I can say is....... Great!! Congratulations Milltek, congratulations for another oem type retrofit/upgrade mod that does NOT involve the F*&^^% Dealer. And, is every bit as good as if not Better than what our cars were produced with. How great is it that a 2008,2009 S5 can be practically (in many ways- not all) brought up to 2013 RS5 spec!!!
Lets see what we do not have to put up with regarding this ingenious oem like upgrade: no Audi dealer visit, no Immobilizer worries, no component protection BS, no pleading with the dealer and then have them act like they are doing you some sort of a "favor" for working on your car, no more listening to a service manager or service writer spew the corporate nonsense of the day that he or she is ordered to tell you (RS5 brake concerns come to mind) . I could go on and on ; like the RS5 owner on here who went to the A-dealer and had different offset wheels rotated only to find they didn't change the spacers and what resulted was rubbed off and burnt paint on the outer edges of the body- THAT makes my point precisely. All that investment and a service manager/writer can't even walk around the vehicle and check the work before the customer drives off. Anyway.....
Wonderful!!!!!! and a big thank you Milltek (Valvesonic technology with stand alone computer-canbus integration) , thank you Bilstein (B16 iRC system with stand alone computer and Iphone app), Thank you Ross-tech (freeing us from being "slaves" to our electronically "locked down" cars ; ECS tuning for serviceable full floating rotors and many, many more manufacturers.
What do all these products have in common.......Liberation , liberation for all of us as Audi owners of Private property to be able to work on them as we please and when we please and how we please. All these products (as you all know) allow the OWNER to program and make (legal) adjustments as they desire by purchasing the product and in some cases the license to use the respective manufacturers software. What a bargain! Sure, these aftermarket items are costly (down right expensive) , until you consider going to a Audi Dealer and state your upgrade or retrofit desires! I really feel for all of you oem warranty owners as you can barely put gas in your car without being "monitored" - some day you to will be "free"!
These products, in many cases, are actually better than what your vehicle was manufactured/spec'ed with.... RS5's included! ; how special is that. Sure, we bit&** and moan -me included- but where would all of us moders and up-graders and retrofiters be without these manufacturers ...... we would be at the A-dealers getting "whipped" that's where.
WELL DONE Milltek, well done! (or as or Audi colleagues across the pond like to say.... Brilliant, brilliant!)
Note: I'm in the market and recently discovered the Valvesonic system for my 2009 S5 4.2L and I recommend Greg V. at Milltek sport USA (above) as I have spoken with him and I am very confident that should I need any support on this product, he will be available. (yet.....another benefit!...... and these days, what is that worth (?)

i saw in the first thread that there would be a discount for customers who already own a milltek system
can you pm me with price?
also i would like to know what's involved in install for valvesonic since it's now electronic, do i have to surrender the OBD2 port? as i'm already using that for my p3 boost gauge, would love more info on this
its all wired up in the rear right side of the car where the rear fuse box is located. the only thing you surrender is the cigg lighter up front unless you mount is somewhere custom

Are there any options for people that already have the full milltek exhaust and just want to upgrade the rear to the valvesonic?

Shoot me a PM with what system you have and we'll be happy to see if there is anything we can do. [up]

ECS is cheaper than G-Werke with the titanium tips AND free shipping. Dammit I was really trying to avoid buying as I'm considering selling my car but ECS is making this very hard

Their pricing on many of the titanium tip systems is incorrect and needs to be changed, but until they do that, there's nothing we can do about it. Titanium tips cost way more than the standard tips. We're happy to match their pricing. Same goes for anyone of our Milltek dealers.
