Hey this is actually my first post but I've been lurking here a while.

So I was cleaning my intercooler tonight and I didn't realize when I started that I had forgotten to take the map sensor off before I soaked it in water and degreaser.

How screwed am I? IDK if you guys would have any idea if the soaking could have damaged it. I took it off when I realized and now I feel like a complete idiot.

Will it hurt to put it back on the car and test it? How can I test if its bad?

Should be ok. Just make sure its completely clean and dry before you plug it back in.

Thanks, I really hope it is. They aren't exactly cheap and it would suck to buy a new one

How will I know if its bad when I put it back on the car?

It will throw a code. Simple vagcom should tell you. Generally if they go bad, it will have trouble reading at idle or things will be shifted over, etc.

So long as you didn't run power through it when it was soaked, it should be just fine, granted you get it totally dry.
