Here it is, the first group buy on our facelift version Alu Kreuz (pronounced kroitz) drivetrain stabilizer for the B8.5 chassis Audi's to include the A4, S4, A5, S5, Q5 and RS5. Our Alu Kreuz replaces the factory multi piece drive train stabilizer with one solid, lightweight structural member to further stiffen the chassis and prevent unwanted suspension deflection. All 6 mounting points are secured to one single plane; the net result is sharper steering with a reduction in chassis flex.

Who would benefit from the addition of the Alu Kreuz? We feel that if you enjoy spirited driving, like to take the on ramps and off ramps of the highway a little quicker than you peers, enjoy a nice drive through the canyons (twisties), the occasional track day or high performance driving class or just want to run your car balls out on the road course, the Alu Kreuz is perfect for you.

During our testing of the B8.5 chassis cars which are comprised of the Audi A4, S4, A5, S5, Q5 and RS5 we found that there was quite a bit of torsional flex coming from the factory subframe/engine carrier. This torsional flex produced what we felt to be incorrect steering sensitivity and response in all aspects of driving. To combat this unwanted characteristic, we did a thorough examination of the front suspension, chassis unibody, and the engine carrier/subframe. Our conclusion was that the OEM hollow steel drivetrain stabilizer underperformed.

The team at Eurocode set out to combat this torsional flex and decided to redesign the drivetrain stabilizer. Our first step was to analyze the material that the factory stabilizer was made up of and then create a load case scenario in which to test it under. We sent out a sample for materials testing and found the factory stabilizer to be made up of carbon steel with a density of 0.284 lb/in3, predominately hollow and stamped into shape. The OEM stabilizer is made up of nine separate pieces, and they are all welded together to form one single unit. Once all of this data was collected and loaded, our team set out with the goal of improving chassis rigidity and weight reduction. Our team found that a replacement stabilizer manufactured out of billet aluminum would accomplish our goals, so the next step was the design process.

Our design process went through several revisions, with each version being loaded into computer modeling to test how it would stack up against the inferior OEM product; these revisions were also built and tested not only on the road, but as well as on a closed course with the feedback provided by a professional driver to the design engineers.

The finished product, which we dub “Alu Kreuz”, is incredible. It features a one piece, billet T7 aircraft aluminum construction, type III hard anodized coating, and all necessary provisions to attach the OEM sound deadeners. It requires zero modification to the vehicle, and works perfectly with the OEM power steering cooler. The Alu Kreuz is also nearly two pounds lighter than the OEM brace and greatly improves chassis torsional rigidity. It looks amazing as well.

Independent analysis was performed on the product and the conclusions were that in each of the pre set load case scenarios, the Alu Kreuz deflected less than the OEM stabilizer, carries less stress for a given applied load and the fatigue life of the product is greater than OEM.

About the Überlegenes Stabilisatoren System (ÜSS)

Eurocode Tuning's Überlegenes Stabilisatoren System (ÜSS) for the 2009 and up B8 and B8.5 Chassis A4/A5 and S4/S5 and RS5. Eurocode's ÜSS is comprised of four key components which work together to mitigate the body roll that is induced by cornering or road irregularities.

Eurocode's ÜSS front stabilizer bar measures in at 32mm and has two adjustment settings allowing full stiffness or a 30% reduction
Eurocode's ÜSS rear stabilizer bar measures in at 25.5mm and has two adjustment settings allowing full stiffness or a 30% reduction

Attention to detail is what sets EuroCode's ÜSS sway bars system from other bars on the market.

Included in every package are:

32mm ÜSS front stabilizer bar with two adjustment points
25.5mm ÜSS rear stabilizer bar with two adjustment points
ÜSS polyurethane bushings
ÜSS bushing lubricant
All new OEM replacement hardware

The official Audi repair manual calls for all bolts securing the sway bar to be replaced once removed from the vehicle. This is due to the fact that all but 4 of the nuts securing the front and rear bars have a torque spec followed by a 90 degree stretch. They simply cannot and should not be reused.

We do not have any extra bushings, when we do a production run on the links, we just make the complete unit. I'll try to see what it would take to conjure up some (cannot promise anything)

Is shipping calculated separately from the group buy price? Is there a huge different to ship to Canada?

Anyone know how these would survive winters in Canadian regions that use salt on the roads?

Shipping is calculated for each order, our cart pulls real time rates from UPS.

The sway bars have a dry polyester powder coat finish and the Alu Kreuz and End Links are anodized using Mil Spec Type III hard coat. Both finishes are superior to the factory underbody paint used for each respective part.

Two days left on the group buy...here is a quote from European Car Magazine regarding our Alu Kreuz and ÜSS Adjustable Stabilizer Bar Set with Billet Aluminum Spherical End Links

Despite its weight, the S4 on its KW V3 coilovers and a slew of suspension parts, seemed to virtually have no understeer. If anything the driver was oversteering out of the slower turns, the set-up allowing the car to rotate. With the grip of the Conti tires and Quattro drive train, it would then find traction and shoot up the straights.

http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/619/ccf1206201200012.jpg

As former GP winners, the company new what was required and its Quattro system was being put to good use on the track, with the car being driven very hard in the morning sessions. Any doubt that you couldn't get an S4 to over steer was soon silenced.

It will still be a fun mod. It greatly enhances the steering feel. I'd also add the full USS and set it to front soft and rear stiff to make your car a little more tail-happy and inject some fun back into it ;)

January 12-13 with the BMW CCA in the advanced group. I'm running some new of 034 Motorsports parts also, like the swaybar end links. Eurocode sells the same parts, I'm only buying from 034 because they are my shop and they'll make me whole on replacement part and labor if something fails or doesn't test right. So essentially whatever I review will be the same as what everyone else should experience at 9/10, if they go there.

@Eurocode - Read through the AK instructions and noted that the B8.5 version has two bolts that are not quite the same as the B8 version. The reason I didn't participate in the GB was the $220 shipping quote from the site. How did you get $22 shipping? Was that the cost shipping came to online when you placed the order fez? Or was it worked put with EC?

I detest UPS for cross-border shipping.

that was the cost stated on the site when I placed my order. I paid another 10$ for brokerage fee and tax of 10$. total was around $42 for shipping and brokerage and tax.
