Is the allroad a decent vehicle? I'm asking because there's a 2001 near to me with 77K going for $9500.00. I'm just wondering if it's worth investigating?

I love it. Air suspension can be a bitch, but the 2.7t is fun. Manuals are rare. I bought mine for a lot less, but it was sitting on the bags. So i threw in a new air compressor(easy), and put some rebuilt front Arnott bags(medium easy). Its needed a couple of other little things, but it moves, and I have to say its a nicer car all around. Oh and my wife immediately took possession.

I kinda like the look of it with the exception of the plastic fender flares and the rock crawler ride height. Is the air suspension all squishy and shit, or is it decent? Are there lowering options or would I be stuck with nose bleed altitude?

Its an awsome car!! I have a 2005 allroad manual sitting at about 120,000 miles. Other than the airbags being a issue from time to time i havent really had any other real problems. If you do buy this car i assure you that you will never get rid of it!

You can adjust the height of the vehicle from the inside(extremely simple), as for the ride i would say smooth unless you are driving over large potholes over all rides just like any other Audi.

It's certainly an intriguing prospect. I'd like a wagon and I may have to see about a test drive of this one. I REALLY like the idea of the 2.7T engine.

I like them a lot! its an Audi so take care of it and it will last but if you dont $$$$. I the the 6 speed 4.2 would make a sweet sleeper even stock. (very hard to find [:/])

Tempted to get this one, only 10 in this color

^ That is an amazing color. I never knew it existed.

Allroads are awesome cars, they have their qwirks just as any audi does but they are still awesome. Also if a manual allroad is desired, all you really need is the 6MT conversion from audis4parts.com.

Oh, if you're worried about 4x4 status and if you want it lower, check out the 402 mod

I really appreciate the responses and insights so far. I think I'll go take a look this morning.

Coworker has one. He has all the black trim painted the color of the car, though. He loves it, and often makes fun of my B5 for shits and giggles.

But, like someone else said, all cars have their quirks, and the Allroad is not an exception.
Also, he says the ride is a bit tall, but he likes it that way, as he does do some "off-roading" and it's nice not having to run a huge skid plate.

As far as the skid plate, the allroad has a much heaver, thicker more like fiberglass two piece skid plate. When I purchased mine I planned on getting another Thor until I slid underneath.

Turns out that the one I was interested in has a few more issues than I really want to deal with right now. The low mileage is a plus and the exterior is almost perfect. The cabin, however, has been lived in a little too roughly for the price they're asking. That said, I was impressed with the overall feel of the allroad, so I think I'm going to keep looking for a more suitable version.

77K what is wrong with it. The only think that made me not want an Allroad... and I REALLY want one is the MPG. Those things are hogs for gas.
