My headlights are too high.
I'm taking the car in for service Thurs and asked if they could adjust.
They said ya but $40 to do it.
I said BS - I can do it myself then.

They come back and say : "You have to calibrate and set it in the headlight module otherwise it will go back to where it was. Unless of course you want to turn the screw daily!!!"

Is this complete BS? I can't imagine the screw twisting back on it's own? Is this something that needs to be VAG'd? I konw there is a distance setting you can adjust anothe member had figured out:

Anyone noticed after changing the hight manually it returning to where it was?

I raised me headlights with just a turn of the screw on top of the housing and it did NOT resett (6 months now). I did not have to perform any VAG stuff.

Seems odd that a manual adjustment screw would electronically reset itself...

The factory service manual should have an aiming procedure in it (how loaded the car must be, distance from the wall, etc).

You can adjust it with the screws on top of the housings. There are two clear/white screws per housing - one is for vertical alignment, and one is for horizontal alignment.

My advice if you'll adjust them by eye: be at least 20 feet or so from a wall, garage door, or similar. I tried making 'minor' adjustments from inside the garage with the lights shining against the inside of the garage door. It doesn't look like the lights are moving much at all when turning screws at such a close distance. What looked good inside the garage to me failed miserably on the streets as I could not see the street much at all b/c I lowered them way too much.

Mine were too high as well and I adjusted them with one of the one screws on top of the housing a few weeks ago and have had no issues.

And use this to adjust them properly.
