Is there a known knock sensor issue with the B8 S4?
I triggered a CEL last week for this after having my car sit outside in the first sub freezing cold and figured it was the ECU adapting to the cold - had a friend check and clear it with their VAG - then the CEL came back again yesterday... took it to the local shop this morning to just see what it was - knock sensor again. He said he thought he heard there was a known warranty issue with these on the B8...
I'm taking it in to the dealership next week for further diagn. - I'm guessing it's a bad sensor...
Curious if this is a common problem with others...
(I'm tuned with STaSIS v2)

First I've heard of this "known warranty issue".
You could have a tank of crap gas, maybe octane not up where it should be. Did you fill up somewhere different than usual?

No same place fill up for the last few months.
Shell 91 non-oxy fuel... But who knows. Maybe I got a bad batch.

If this is a known issue, that means there's a TSB. Get the number so we can look it up.

I would guess the tune is the culprit along with some bad gas or something

Stock exhaust?

We really need more information.
Was there actually knocking/pinging? Or was the car giving a false positive? Or was there a warning light saying the sensor was faulty?
Also, maintenance history of the car would help: plug age, gas, other mods besides the tune, etc.

Car has 12k. Awe exhaust... Stasis tune.
The cel went away on its own yesterday but ill still take it in to get checked.
The guys at the shop said the code was for the sensor not registering
Properly. I should have gotten the exact code. I'll update the thread after I take it in... thanks guys...

Okay, that means a faulty sensor or bad wiring. First I've heard of that.

Dropped the car this morning. They said they need to check that the sensor is torqued down properly... if it is then they will replace it. This involves removing the intake manifold tho... argh. So left it there... 3 hours of surgery. I'll update the thread on outcome. No TSB...

That's good news. Any drama about the car having a tune?

No drama. I'm with STaSIS (so covered regardless)... but dealership is tune friendly. Never came up. I must say - it was nice not worrying about that... with my previous REVO tuned A4 I had anxiety every time I went to the dealership for warranty work ... but with STaSIS I konw I'm covered either way... nice feeling...

Funny thing, after my statis v2 tune - also got a CEL. Pulled code and it was P0327. Dealership cleared it, it came back and had the sensor replaced. Took them a week to get the part etc. But it is all good now.

So over the past few weeks I've been getting CELs... took a week after getting my car back from the dealership to get another... It will go away on it's own then come back a few days later. Taking it in tomorrow to the dealership. I can only assume it's knock sensor again. Curious if anyone else is having similar issues with STaSIS v2? Dealership said they are not noticing a trend there...
Stasis v2 tune = Revo tune
I have not heard of knock sensor issues but I do vaguely remember REVO vs APR debate adn APR bringing to light that REVO tune messes with the knock sensor and timing. Maybe this is the root of the issue.

I was one of the first Stasis v2 people. Other than a weird tachometer glitch (fixed by re-flashing), I've had no problems.

I haven't had any CELs with stasis V2 though did have a number of knock sensor CELs when stock and with stasis v1.
i'm kind of anal so I check my car every few weeks for codes and have been pleasantly surprised there have been none given the power bump with V2. i'm all stock otherwise.

All,
I checked our warranty log this morning and do not see any CEL knock sensor warranty claims, we will watch Mr Funks issue and report back anything that may be useful. Regardless he is covered! [drive]

What happened with the knock sensor CEL's you were getting when stock and stasis v1? Did those just go away on their own or was there some other underlying issue? How many did you have? Seems I've had about 4 over the last month - they come and go.

Thank you - I know you're working with the dealership directly = and I'm appreciative of the attention given thus far :)
