Any idea what this thing is and what it does? And why it clicks/ticks? I noticed that it tends to happen once the engine is up to temp, after driving for a while

I circled it in the pic below (its above the intake box)

I can't remember the name of it, but the clicking is normal.

the ticking nosie is louder if you do the air box mod or switch to a cone filter i recomend sticking with the stock air box

the airbox is stock, no swiss cheese mod

so a quick repeating clicking/ticking is normal? it had me worried a bit ha

It is an electronic solenoid that opens and closes to vent gas vapors from the tank into the intake track of your turbocharger system, to be burned in the combustion chamber.

I think a mechanic once told me that that ticking is the valve actually sparking to burn the gasses, seems unlikely though

Adding spark to gas fumes will cause it to combust. That is why it is burned in the cylinder ignition chamber.
