View Full Version : Brief coolant temp sensor flashing... why?

Like usual I took off to go to work this morning.

Living in this hilly side of the world, I have to bring my car to 4000 rev to go up some hills (most of my driving is going up or down a hill... terrible gas mileage btw)

well my car was not warmed up yet this morning (temp gauge was pointing below the first mark), I overslept 30 minutes [:D]

anyways.. as I was going up that first hill, my coolant temp light started to flash until the temp went up enough to reach the first notch on the temp gauge

is it normal for the temp light to flash if the engine revs high when it is not properly warmed up yet??

maybe low coolant level caused this since I was going up hill??

My coolant is at the minimum mark since monday and I didnt fill it back up since I only drive 5 miles at a time and I am replacing the thermostat today which means draining the cooling system anyway...

i would say going up a hill with low coolant would trigger the sensor being it is in the resevoir. top it off and you should be good to go
