97 mph. I was hauling ass over on-ramp and the cop just happened to clock me as I entered highway. He let me off though....

111 in 65. Ended up with two tint tickets and a no front plate ticket, both thrown out in court. NYS Trooper on the Thruway. Also a 109 in 65
I guess I had it coming but I have also been written for 73 in a 65 and 74 in a 65.. AND I wasn't even being a dick to the Trooper..

Actually it seems the more ridiculous the speed. The better sometime. They don't want to ruin your life so if you are polite, they might cut you a break. Depends on the cop. Never argue and be polite. Goes a long way.

When you get pulled over. Don't say shit, don't acknowledge ANYTHING. Don't give him anything that will make him remember you, the time of day.. Other than your car..
So WHEN not IF, your lawyer goes to court, he has the best chance to challenge the officer, the radar gun, and the departments procedures.. THAT is how you beat tickets like that.. It is like beating a DWI, you just make the prosecution mess up as much as possible and HOPE for a serious reduction.
Hope that explains it..

Ok, I just assumed it was yours since you posted it. 140 is not that special, for some random car. I've seen cars fly by me at at speeds of 150+ with a cop car not too fAr behind. Los Angeles freeways turn into racetracks late at night. I just set my car. To cruise at 72mph and don't mess around.

If the first words you say are "I'm sorry" you'll likely get a warning. Admit the wrong and move on (within 25 mph). Anything more and I'll be booing you in court with the rest of the speeders (MD PBJ hearing).

Yeah - I'm not sure how a lot of you are saying triple digit speed in much slower zones - many states have laws that anything over (something like 50 MPH over the limit) is considered negligent reckless driving or whatever the term is and it's automatic go-to-jail time and car impounded.

I got one driving my Legacy Spec B in Northern BC doing 147km/h in a 80km/h zone. I had an Alberta license so I only had to pay a fine ($370 for the ticket). I decided to fight to ticket so it was put in "limbo" for two years. In the meantime I switched my license to BC. They set my court date for Jan 2nd 2009 which I couldn't make since I was in Mexico. I ended up pleading guilty and paying the fine not realising that it would be applied to my BC license instead of my Alberta one that I had at the time. With an excessive speeding ticket the BC registry charges you an additional $370/year for three years following the conviction. That fee is completely separate from insurance. It ended up being a $1500 ticket.. FML

I remember reading a post by a state trooper on some radar detector forum, that he will only ticket for reckless driving if there were a lot of cars on the road at the time and it was truly dangerous. He said if you do 100+ at 3am, he will just write you for the speed.
Hopefully most cops go by this.

That sucks. I lived in chicago a couple years back and never saw one speed trap. Feels pretty lawless on the area highways. The dan ryan is like 45mph for some reason, yet everyone is driving 70-90.

118 in a 55, radar clocked on the Long Island Expressway a long time ago as a much younger man. I, however, had a good story and got off.
I agree with above. Always be polite with the officer. Never mouth off at him/her. I am respectful but lighthearted. I never admit to anything. If I can make a joke, I do, but always respectful. If you are cool with most LEO, they are cool with you. Yes, I have encountered asses in the past, but most are okay.
I don't have many conversations anymore, but did have one about three months ago. I was the only car on the road. I saw him pulling out of the woods to chase. It was obviously me. I just pulled far over on a wide part of the shoulder and waited for him. Radar clocked 80 in a 65. The trooper and I had a pleasant conversation and I got off with failure to obey a traffic sign ticket. We actually joked around a bit. Cool with me. I usually have to pay my lawyer a lot of money to get them down to that violation. The trooper asked me "do you know how fast you were going?" I responded, "Apparently I appeared fast enough to catch your attention." I had picked him up on radar, but my reaction time was poor as I was running on less than four hours sleep. The detector functioned well with plenty of warning. I got caught because of the loose nut behind the wheel.
Truth be told, when tired or doing long runs, I usually just set the cruise at something reasonable and roll.

Brozie, no, no, no thank you. ;-)
Interesting topic that we dont want to share too much with a forum but...
I always in a hurry to get to hell and back so I wont divulge how fast you can go back and forth but I remember at one point hitting a speed trap with 3 policemen after me and oddly enough they never stopped me as I just mixed in traffic (they were way too slow to get on the highway) and I saw them go by me ... all three of them. Mind you I was one of 3 cars going very fast and that was before the S4.
Now my S4 is impossible to hide in plain view so now going to hell and back is a lot longer.
To conclude, one stupid ticket is about it for the last 20 years and on the S4. In a 30mph zone clocked at 50. I was polite and still got a full ticket and said "thank you Mr. officer" and drove off. Although being nice normally pays off as people point out, it doesnt always pay. One thing for sure, in my neck of the woods if you're anything but pleasant to the law officers, you get an extra fine for being anything else so polite is a must.

If you are doing triple digit speeds with a car anywhere near you, you will get boned for the most part. If you get pulled over, and pull over in a safe spot, and give extra room on the road side, it really goes a long way..

Where in NY? The most you can lose your license in NY is 18 months... Unless you were drunk while doing it, and even if you got your first DWI doing it, you would have it back in 18 months, a 2nd DWI you could lose it for 2 years..

I dropped my uncles name.. Funny that he used to be high speed enforcement on NYS Thruway. He used to drive the 6 speed Cameros. And the Trooper said I could either call my uncle and the trooper would tell him my real speed (When I was 17) OR, I could take a few tint tickets and a no front plate ticket. At that age I was SCARED SHITLESS of my elders.. So I opted for the tint tickets.

No speed cameras. Just TXTag Cameras. Just cameras at the toll booths for not paying your $6.00 Toll! Hennessey tested their CTS-V "VR 1200" there 220.5 MPH going through the Toll both and the camera still caught the license plate #!!!

anyone get arrested? Just curious of what happens.
I've been pushing my luck for years and decided to cool it with the 100mph stuff. I was doing 110/120 pretty much twice a day getting on the freeway near my house which rarely has traffic. But decided getting arrested is not going to be cool so I have my speed warning set to 95mph. :D
I have a speeding system I've developed by observing where CHP officers hide and what tactics they use to catch people. It's served me well I had not gotten a ticket in 9 years and I constantly speed. BUt it finally caught up with me the other day, I honestly just wasn't paying attention (having a conversation with friend in passenger seat) as I crested an obvious speed trap. Laser got me at 84, got a ticket for 80 in a 65, super nice cop.
