I was at Laguna Seca for the first time last weekend and I wish it was my local track. Some interesting things happened. My local track is Reno Fernley Raceway and to me it seems that it is longer and more demanding than Laguna Seca. Laguna Seca was more complex and harder to read though. I might be able to chalk it up to inexperience but those are my initial impressions.
Here's my story. I have a 6 piston Brembo 380mm BBK and I installed some brand new Carbotech XP12s before my first session on Saturday. Long story short. By the end of my ninth 20 minute session on Sunday I had 4mm of brake pad left. I know it was my first time on this track and I probably was not very efficient with my braking but it seems to me that they wore out way too fast. My last set of pads were the Hawk DTC60s and I got 7 days out of them. I purchased the Carbotechs based on comments from others. I felt they were a good comparison to the Hawks.
I maybe ranting but I wanted to share this with everyone.

I got much better wear using the RP2. Any pics of how your caliper/rotors looked like at the end of that? Interested in seeing.

Carbotech XP12s do wear quicker. And from my last experience at Laguna Seca, this track is pretty hard on the brakes.

other than how the pads were degrading, how did you enjoy the laguna day in your S4??

The calipers and rotors were fine. Here are my pads.

Laguna Seca is awesome. Compared to the other tracks I've been to I felt that the track is complex yet safe to to push your car to it's limits.

I have the same Brembos and used XP10s. They wore out relatively quickly as well, slightly longer than 9 20 minute sessions. Difficult to make comparisons, though. Also switched to RP2s and they last quite a while.
Aside from longevity, how did the initial bite, stopping power and modulation feel to you?

Modulation felt very good. It felt like I got more initial bite from my DTC60s.
