View Full Version : So many products... so little time....is this a good option?

After reading many many threads on the Detailing forum I've found one thing is true... everyone has certain products they like and don't like and it takes a lot of time and effort and possible some expensive experimenting to find the ones you like.
My Dad and brother both like Griots products and haven't been disappointed with them for years. I think it would be really easy to just buy 1 master kit and be done with it! I know not all products in the kit might be the 'best' in the industry, but I'm sure they are all top notch and would save me a ton of time and effort.
What do you guys think of this Griots kit? And Griots products in general.

I would get the kit without the bucket, and then buy the Griots orbital with pads.
Thanks for opinions!
Dave

Phil - please! I was looking all over your site last night for something like this while crying in my beer about my beloved Yankees and Jeter. I saw you have a couple of kit choices for the orbital which is nice. I think these kits make a lot of sense to some of us and usually have some bulk cost savings, which is never a bad thing when first building up your detailing kit.

Phil, you should post the list up on here. I've used you detailing threads when I'm looking for something and it would be great to have your list to compare to what I have/ want.

Hi Phil, Great write ups, tips, etc.! Thanks! My question is regarding the car wash solutions. I noticed a lot of your write ups use the 1z W99. Am I correct to assume that this isn't a product I'd use weekly, but rather as a wax, polish, etc. stripper prior to a full paint prep? And I'd use something like the Lusso Auto Bathe for weekly washes in between waxing/sealing? Also, I stumbled upon an article about products specifically for white cars. What are your thoughts? I wish I still lived back east b/c you and your team would definitely be working on my car. Speaking of, do you have any Northern Californian (SF/Sacramento areas) detailers you'd recommend? Thanks!

Vinny09 - yup you are correct the W99 is something I use to pre soak a car before big jobs. for maintenance I would suggest the above Lusso Auto Bathe, Adam's Car Wash, Auto Finesse Lather, 1Z Perls.

What would you recommend for my Range Rover's dashboard? I'm pretty sure it's a vinyl of some sort? Also for the plastic-y stuff around the dash.
And what is your window cleaner of choice? I've tried a few and can never get a nice streak free shine.
Thank you in advance!
