Hello All,

I am about to get new rubber for my B6 A4 Ultrasport (1.8TQ). I may also be getting new rims. Trying to find good balance between aesthetics and practicality. I'm posting what must be a common query so I apologize if it's old news.

First of all I'm looking for 18", possibly 19" summer tires. I'm uncertain whether to get the stock 235 or wider. I'm assuming more rubber is better (I know that's not the case in snow, and I have a set of narrow Blizzaks on steel rims for winter). If you have a recommendation on section width, SAR, brand/model applied to a B6A4 I would greatly appreciate it.

Regarding rims, so far I've purchased them on aesthetics alone, for which I'm happy with my 18" RS4 reps, though occasionally I hear there are either sturdier or lighter rims. I much prefer the looks of 18's or 19's, but will admit it's way more relaxing driving in NYC on my 16" steelies in winter. Is there a wheel/tire sweet spot that experienced forum members have found works best?

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance, and sorry again to flog this topic.

James

For use in the city, 18" wheel would be a little more sturdy and the tires would cost less to replace. 19" look nicer but are harder to find and more likely to bubble after pothole hits...

Thank you Doc. Will consider 18s.
