I'll try to document my car as best as I can. It started life as a bone stock 2000 S4. It has gone through a few revisions in its life but is most recently going through a body swap and a single turbo conversion....

I could only dig up one stock picture of the car, but you all know what a black S4 sedan looks like. I'll see if I can remember the order of mods and pics will be loaded after..

Backstory if you care....

Did the typical stage 1/2 stuff. Started with Revo software. Worked great. I thought it was fun and never had any complaints. First on the order of mods was wheels, tires, and suspension. Again everyone has been here and done that. Tried on many many wheels and finally decided on a set of 19x8.5 Kleeman wheels with a 35 offset. My wife made it so damn difficult to find wheels but ultimately, she was the one driving. We have since burned through 6 sets of tires of all varieties and somehow I can never get her to let go of the wheels. We also threw on h&r springs with the bilstein strut combo everyone was selling years ago. It is still on there 80k miles later. No real complaints although I could definitely see its weakness if you ever wanted to road race the car as the valving never seemed matched to the springs. During this time I also did the timing belt/h20 pump and other odds and ends like motor mounts, brakes etc. After that I installed an AWE twin 1 exhaust. Fitment was reasonable although the exhaust hanger retention clips didn't always want to stay put which occasionally led to the exhaust rattling on the rear diff. I put on a new OEM rear spoiler I got through work and had it painted in our body shop. It looked pretty good and set it apart a little from other S4's. From there it all kind of became smushed together as mods were always flowing in and I never kept track of it. I ended up gutting the cats and installing a JHM full shift kit and trans stabalizer along with new trans mounts from 034. I did the rear BBK and installed B7 rs4 front brakes with lightweight JHM rotors and stainless lines all over. They filled out the 19s pretty well. I also did a vast lwfw with the hybrid ceramic/organic disk. It worked well for the most part although losing a dual mass flywheel was a little bit of a wake-up and the first real step to not giving a crap how loud this thing was:) I drove it that way for a while replacing maintenance stuff along the way before I bought a full RS6 setup from Vast. I went with the RS6 turbos because at the time, it was the most ponies available and the GT/tial, etc stuff was still not in the big picture like it is today. I did their full setup including meth. Put it all in along with also changing the clutch and flywheel to a sachs racing division setup. It was much better than the LWFW I had before in terms of smoothness. The car eventually worked it's way down the revision line with Mike and it was pulling 3.1 fats @22psi. It was very smooth and felt fast for a while. My wife daily drove it for a few years like this with our kiddo in the backseat constantly giggling and screaming to go faster. Then we had a 2nd kid and all went down the toilet with the car. 2 car seats didn't fit in the car so something had to be done. We stuck her in an FJ cruiser and I took over the car. muahahahahahahaha! I installed vast 3" downpipes and fabbed up a 3.5" single exhaust system from their back. Worked great and sounded phenominal imho. @ about 170k miles the car had had enough and started seeping coolant into one of the cylinders so I tore it down for a complete reseal and yet another timing belt job. This was how the list sat at that time:

Jist of mod list...

I drove it that way for a little while and decided I was tired of being slow. So I set out on a goal to convert my car to e85 and build the bottom end. After a while of pushing #'s I decided that would be a wasteful idea and went to town on my single turbo conversion. Here is the list of major changing parts

Bored out the block to 2.8 and filled with JE thermal coated pistons
Vast rods
2.8 heads with full supertech setup
034 stand alone
034 fuel rails
custom intake manifold
custom exhaust manifolds
bosch 165 lb injectors
bb pt6266 turbo .82ar
custom fuel lines to a sumped tank with a magnafuel pump
e85/100 fueled
tilton twin disc with schnazzy 034 flywheel (sexy)

That is the major changes although there are lots of small things also. The biggest thing is that I have always wanted an avant that was fast. Sooooooo I picked up an 01 A4 avant with a blown motor and went to town swapping the entire powertrain over. I put them side by side and spent the weekend swapping stuff over. Engine, trans, subframe, suspension, brakes rear subframe, diff etc etc etc. Totally worth it imho. I got what I want for little investment in the swap. I am going to stuff the sedan in storage for a future project.

Motor came back from the machine shop. All nice and pretty. Started assembly on the engine components.

Sitting at the kitchen table trying to keep the wifes domain clean while assembling cylinder heads. The valve seats were machined for the supertech +1mm valves and the heads were checked for straightness.

The ARP main studs required a decent amount of trimming to allow fitment for the upper oil pan. Nothing too terrible though.

Test fitting some cleaned up parts.

I do have a vast t shirt actually. It used to be plastered all over the side of the car for a short while during a couple events we went to. I always had a good experience with them. Actually, all the vendors I work with I have had great experiences with. I have been working with Jeremy @ 034 motorsports on this latest build. I am definitely the kind of guy that has company loyalty, even if it isn't always the best deal. As long as it's reasonable, I keep coming back. I have been very happy with 034 up to this point as well and I am hoping that we can create a monster avant out of this.

I have since picked my wife up an 05 A4 to take over daily duties and we will be getting rid of the FJ cruiser soon.
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff460/rockcandy22/utf-8BSU1BRzExNjUuanBn.jpg

Swapped over the kleemans and it is in serious need of a drop.

Ditched the B7 Rs4 brakes on the B5 in favor of smaller brakes so I can run some light weight wheels.

No. The gas station is tested regurlarly by many people I know. This station kind of caters to a group of us here. It's always top notch!
They also have 93 on the other side as well as CNG. You can buy 100, 110, c16 and q16 from them as well but it is in jugs.
This picture was from a little bit ago, but I think regular is hovering around $3.50-3.60. E is still the same.

My family and I made a trip up the west coast on hwy 1 a couple years ago and stopped in 034 to check out business. They were part way through doing their GTI-rs project at the time. They hooked me up with a t-shirt and a couple other things and the t-shirt is still going strong. Granted I don't wear it all the time but still. People just huff and puff at the price of nice t-shirts though. I wouldn't expect much for what they sell them for.

I forgot to mention. This one is going to be fairly purpose built. Go fast or go the f home. I'll be shedding some serious weight with this wagon and caging it out to meet spec for track use. This is why I suck at multipurpose builds. I can't leave well enough alone.

This was my Jeep many years ago that also started bone stock and slowly morphed into what it was. 100% built by me and my wife and daily driven this way for a couple years in Arizona where it was sunny 99% of the time. I miss the 4 wheeling world but there isn't much of it here (at least the stuff I like). So, here I am in the land of pavement trying to build a wagon to drag some ass on the blacktop.

What color are yours? My cell phone distorts the color badly. It actually looks nothing like that in real life. They're candy purple. Ill see if I can snap a pic with a real camera. I have another set that is wrinkle red that was on there for a couple years. They are just collecting dust in my attic though.

Interesting, I came from Jeeps too. Had a ZJ on long arms and HP44/Ford 9". Daily drove it on 37s and a Detroit in back.

Glad to see the project coming along and I'm interested to see the 6266 in action on this particular build, especially with the Stage IIc.

What turbine housing are you going with? V-band? What power levels?

Keep up the good work.

I literally bought 95% of this whole build from you guys. It's a .82 Ar, v-band. I need this thing to be rolling at 700+ or I'll feel like a failure.

I thought I remembered you coming from Jeeps. Mine was set up on built 60/14 bolt and a rear 4 link and 38's among a bunch of other stuff. I'll build another Jeep but I'll have to move away from here to do it. I'm not going to build something crazy that I have to drive hours just to get to an entertaining trail.

I'm going to test fit it in the car again sometime this weekend. Then its time to fully weld it up, reinstall it for good and move forward with it in the car. Lots of cool little stuff will show up on this. There will be no piping or anything on top of the motor aside from fuel rails. I want it to be cleeeeean.

I will get more use out of driving the avant. The avant still needs an engine to get back on the road so we will see where that goes:) I just didn't want to get extreme on the weight loss with the avant. I'm going for records @ the track and to be a nightmare on the street to 99.5% of cars.

welded a couple strips of 4" aluminum around the tank and sunk it in. 2" protrudes into the trunk area and makes it just abover the rear bumper line. I fastened it in and painted the surrounding black. I then removed the hard piece on the bottom of the carpet and trimmed it to fit around the tank. Provides a nice clean look.

nope. Converted my 1.8 avant to a 2.7 over the weekend instead so I could have a daily. I picked up a 2.7 A6 with a supposed bad tranny (turns out it had a bad ecm due to water ingress) and got that all switched over and handled instead. I'll be back on it soon. It's so close it pains me though.

Moved it down a smidge and it barely fits between the bumper. I'm confident this is the biggest intercooler that will fit behind the bumper.

I didn't like how the intercooler fit so the ends got chopped off and worked the piping straight to the intercooler without the typical in your face silicone couplers. I only have 2 and they are out of sight behind the bumper/

Yes, it is a complete engine harness built for me by Max @034. I had it made long enough to run into the factory ecu enclosure through the cab of the car and have my ecu mounted under the passenger dash. I bought it when I got my stand alone package. I'm not sure of the exact cost of the harness out of that. I want to say $8-900? Whatever it ended up being, its totally worth it.

Why not just run a Walbro E85 pump? They are said to be good to 600whp on E85. Rockcandy even showed us they fit in the stock basket and drop into our tank...

B/c I jumped the gun and purchased a Bosch 044 a while back. But may end up dropping that in the fuel tank and running a Walbro 255 from the surge tank, if necessary (or vice versa). Still, in order to save some $$ I'm hoping stock to surge and 044 from surge to rail will sufficient.

That is a 30x13.5. I'll also run a 295/55/15 with a different wheel offset for cruising. That will keep it looking "normal". I wanted to build it for as big of a tire as I could ever see running and just run smaller if I want.

Well, the shop building it would be me:) no I don't have interest in doing any more builds for people. I've found over the years, building cars for people takes too much time for the money involved. I NEVER have time to build my own cars which is probably the bigger issue for me. Lol.
Yes it's tubbed. Yes I've taken the time to make sure things like the adaptor, girdle, etc are all being made for production/sales. The axle, well, you're on your own. I had moser build me a m9 with a pro street and go fast checklist filled. Shipping to the shop on Friday. I'll get some pics next week when it comes in.

I've had some realizations over the last 6 months of what I'd like and what's feasible with my family. I sold my share of the business to my partner and have ventured away from builds to sales of products. Lots of works in progress but it all takes time. I'm not down for whipping stuff out first for the sake of being first. I like it to be right and know I didn't have to shortcut anything.

I've spent a few hours over there looking at tires big enough to roll up and sleep in :) to see what some of those guys pay for a chassis (think $50k+) kinda makes me sick. You couldn't get but maybe a couple in this country to put that kind of money into an Audi on a single visit besides an r8 owner. That for me is hopeless. Haha. I have no interest in other brands of go fast cars. I like a lot, but I just don't have any passion for them. So, I've just decided to be a little selfish now and focus on my own projects for now.
