GTG @ Super Car Sunday and Cruise Oct. 28th

The last Turn out was incredible, lets try and get this one to be just as good if not better.


When:
Next meet Oct. 28th 7am meet 9:30 cruise. (DONT FORGET TO FUEL UP BEFORE HAND)
The Marque for this SCS is Ferrari Vs. Lambo. Should be a good one.

Show up at 7 if you want to park with the group. by 7:30/ 8ish spots are getting filled fast. If not its cool park and come hang out.

For the cruise we stage up in the east corner of the parking lot We will depart at 9:30am. Radios help for sure so you know whats going on when we stop and when we are rolling out. If not just follow the scent.

As always this cruise is slow pace and safe.

p.s this route has 3 tunnels. Bring your gopros, other cameras

I just want to get this post started up so we can get the list going, for all those that couldn't make it to the Sept. 30th Event here is your chance to make it to this one.

Route for the drive still to be figured out, but we can assume that it shall be just as nice as the last drive. As always we will make sure it includes the "snake" as part of the route.

Haha, shit happens. I've literally ran out of gas about a mile away from a gas station and somehow the lights were in my favor and I had enough speed to roll all the way to the pump. It was my old pickup not the audi. I ran out 2 more times and my sister ran out once while driving it.

I know for a fact I will not be able to attend this one. Gonna be real busy that weekend.

Agreed. We went throgh the learning curve on this one however, overall, most will agree it was a great time!

Not to take away from Jason's efforts here, however our next "BIG" event will be something a bit different. Likely held at a more centralized location with regional groups caravan to the main location.

BTW, thanks for rolling out with Team Underground. Good seeing you guys and your well-stanced sweet sounding rides. There is no question we had some issues but overall, we adapted to the curves we got thrown and ultimately will continue to improve... I hope[:)] Originally, it was just 7 of us, then 15, then 50+ so you can see it did a bit of an exponential leap on us. Personally, everyone arriving safely and with no tickets at our final destination was a success. Other than that, someone can only have as good a time as they are willing to...[:D]

It was more or less a reference point. Typically the lead will get there first and get all the cars lined up. You are right though. I like to be a couple of rows out to allow for the later people to still get in the line up.

I was there at 6:30 and grabbed the 4th row from the last marque row, same as Owoodee had been doing in previous months with his A4. I can do the same thing again. There is no way people get there early enough to stack up opposite the marque row thus the need to be 3-4 rows out.

As far as routes, we know we want to incorporate the Snake and that's great but there are so many other amazing roads that most of the group have never experienced. what about adding Stunt/Piuma to our next cruise... adds so very windy miles to the cruise but people would be able to experience everything from tight windy canyon roads to Saddle Peak Ridge with its epic sweeping vista all the way over Malibu and the Pacific Ocean to the horizon. Just a thought.

Also, do you know if Sharkey's Wood fired Mexican Grille could offer ample parking and seating at 11am on the 28th. I believe it is in the same shopping Center as Albertson's on Agoura Road at Las Virginnes parallel to the 101.

Easy access with no speed bumps to stress our lowered brethren. The huge detail bays also offer some interesting possibilities for staging Audi's by model.



BTW, Brad, I hear you regarding new attendees. No worries. I'm trying to think of a route as simple as possible with the fewest lights possible to aid group continuity while still providing all the visceral and visual stimulation that you come out for.[drive]

lets shoot that over to some buddies that drive the R8s huh? :) and i just mean getting an appt down or something so we can have the back room and all be in one common area all next to each other... they could always split the check into 2 or 3 and then we can divide it amongst ourselves...idk just a thought!

I know there was a booth giving out snacks (not sure if it was free or for money but i didn't see a menu) So theres always that opportunity, if some people want to contribute and have their wives, girlfriends, cousins, sisters, moms, grandmas, etc make food and come serve the men =]

Theres honestly SOOOO MUCH that we can plan since we have so much time on our hands.. Im not familiar AT ALL with the area thats why i'm giving ideas such as ordering a taco truck, food truck, or having everyone or some people bring a certain food and set up a booth..

We can do a group discussion in person, maybe not everyone but some people.. have lunch somewhere, sit down and talk=] it'll be fun.

I like Qua77ros ideas for the route. As far as the ending point for lunch, the Johnny Rockets in Agoura Hills does have PLENTY of parking for that time of day and week and I am sure they appreciate everyone's business.

I am in for the SCS meetup and some cruising through the canyons. In my prior meets we always incorporated Piuma and Stunt and possibly Tuna Canyon (awesome downhill cruise to those that haven't done it). I'll need to get back home so I may/may not join in for lunch. Looking forward to this GTG, judging by the success of the prior SCS Audi meet it should be a blast. My opinion (FWIW) have everyone gather for a show and shine at SCS and from there stage a cruise but its always really tough keeping everyone together when its a big group. Do a cruisers and a carvers group (this does not mean "racers") since everyone is expected to follow the laws. And then each group leader can use walkie talkies or cell phones to meet up at pre-set spots, or at least at the end for lunch. This way those looking to keep mocving aren't waiting for 30 cars to gatherat the snake and then re-mobilize... Just my 0.02

Ran into Matt Farah, host of The Smoking Tire testing out a 2013 Audi S6. It sounded amazing echoing off the canyon walls as it climbed the twists and turns. Between the roar of the motor and the squeal of the Pirelli P-Zero's, I heard him coming a long ways off. Too cool.

It made me realize how amazing all of our Audi's will sound climbing some of the tighter canyons.

I have an amazing route in mind. I'd rather have route sheets available to you at SCS as we stage than post the route or discuss the specific roads online. The Snake will of course be included but that is just a taste of the amazing roads in these hills and canyons. I'm not going to say anything else about the route besides that it will be scenic as well as challenging. Hopefully you will enjoy the surprise.

Sounds amazing QUA77RO. Now I think you should just state that the route will end at Johnny Rockets in Agoura Hills around 11am for lunch. As everyone who was at the 9/30 GTG and Group Cruise knows, there is plentiful parking for everyone where no one should get upset at a group of folks with Audis (whether it's 10 or 50 cars) showing up to buy lunch!

Then looks like 10/28 will be all set! [:)]

you are right. It is every sunday. Marquees are at the end of the month. Which is why we would typically plan on that day. :)

All Future Marquee Events are permanently moved to the Beginning of the month so they can make room for the Vintage Market that takes place the last Sunday of the month starting this October in the same lot.... IMO it might be better to move the meet to do a different date

We are just waiting for Qua77ro's final opinion as for he has a tight relationship with Dustin, Organizer of SCS. I believe the Antique Fair was being held in the South portion of the lot so other than increased traffic entering the center from the West entrance on Topanga, I didn't personally notice a problem however, the Antique Fair is likely catching on and SCS had some pretty huge turn outs over the Summer. I hope us Audi guys weren't the ones that broke the camel's back! We did have 60+ cars there last month!

As of this moment, the consensus seems to keep the 10/28 date. If you guys want to see more other types of cars and especially Ferraris, then I'd recommend moving it to 11/4 otherwise sticking with 10/28 will give us more opportunity to arrive later and still all park together.

My personal experience is the non Marque dates have a much lower turnout freeing up allot of space.

Let's pray for good weather on 10/28. Last month's get together and group cruise was an absolute blast. 10/28 should be no exception. I have chatted with Auto Gallery and they are planning to bring out a few cars and hang and cruise with everyone again only this time Ray wants to drive the R8! Ingolstadt West is definitely planning to return and this time GMG might even be bringing out one of their race cars!

Actually, a little rain would completely clear the roads for us... No tourists or bikes sounds good to me. [:)][up] And photographs with wet roads and headlights on look awesome. Some of my best track shots are from rain soaked events. Ideally, it would rain all night and just let up before we stage...something to keep in mind while praying or performing a rain dance.

They would not be able to go on the cruise...[:|] I know Fabryce talked about transporting the Cup cars to Motor4Toys which makes sense since it's a show with tons of media coverage that can benefit the shop. Let's pray for good weather on 10/28. Last month's get together and group cruise was an absolute blast. 10/28 should be no exception. I have chatted with Auto Gallery and they are planning to bring out a few cars and hang and cruise with everyone again only this time Ray wants to drive the R8! Ingolstadt West is definitely planning to return and this time GMG might even be bringing out one of their race cars!

Had a chance to do a trial run from SCS yesterday morning with quattroforlife. [drive] Looks good. I'm glad we did a trial run though. The recent rains have eroded the transition from the road into a really cool photo spot/vista making it ok to get into but as quattroforlife and I both discovered, it would be next to impossible to reenter the road without people scraping the underside of their front valence. Obviously, we are not going to go anywhere that will jeopardize anyone's car so that area is nixed. Photo ops will mainly be in the SCS parking area and the Johnny Rockets lot. I'll contact Shera and let her know approximately when we would be coming through the Snake and hopefully we can have her get some great shots.

Looked at the lot/space situation at SCS as well. Non marque days draw a much smaller crowd so there is plenty of space unless I misunderstood where the antique fair is located. My understanding is that it occupies the area where we staged last time and should not cause any issue as I don't think that we will need to move much in order to stage. I'll double check the fair location.

When I get back from AudiFest, I'll start scouting for other photo-op locations as well as other destination possibilities for future cruises. [:D]

It is a public event and all are welcome. What we've told folks in the past is that other models can join provided that they let the Audis take the lead as a courtesy. So tell us about the new ride!

Last month's meet featured over 50 Audis! Come meet at Supercar Sunday (Westfield Promenade shopping Center, Topanga Canyon at Erwin, Woodland Hills) and cruise with your favorite S. Cal Audi Tuners and Audizine friends. We are expecting the return of Audi Auto Gallery, DCH Audi Oxnard, Eurocode Tuning (including David's gorgeous new orange b8.5 S4), GMG, Ingolstadt West and Pacific German plus all of your Audizine friends.

7am-9:30am Get together for show and shine at Supercar Sunday.
9:30am-11am Audi group cruise, slow paced through the canyons above Malibu such as the famous Mulholland snake ending at Johnny Rockets Agoura Hils for lunch.

The core of this ic is better flowing and allows for better cooling. I haven't measured before and after IATs or power curves so I cant say what the gains will be. But it is a garunteed improvement over the stock ic. I had this on for almost 2 years and it ran great with definite improvements on warmer days.

Just got back from AudiFest last night (incredible time, new personal best in the Avant at Sonoma Raceway) but "Blizzard" is still in NorCal. I'm bummed. Don't ask.

I'll still be there in something but not likely to be an Audi. [:(] If the forecast holds, Ill go to storage and bring something else that starts with an "A" at least. I have no intention of insulting the group by running on the cruise without an Audi though. I'll be there at SCS bright and early with the route sheets available and then break off and set up in the canyons along the route and wait for you to come by. Anyway, more info to follow after I have a chance to confer with the group leaders.

My STaSIS rep was at my store today and since he is unable to join us this time, he gave me some stuff to hand out to you guys. Nothing major but it was a "hey , ya got anything I can give out to the guys in your car?" kinda unprepared thing. See ya on Sunday.

Remember the good ole days when STaSIS was still at Infineon, had an actual race team to develop/test parts, and was staffed by people that were passionate about VAG and STaSIS. Have any of their new reps actually picked up an Audi to drive yet? Kristoff? Jack?...

@NoR32 yes i was able to salvage out all my eurocode parts. The AK is not the same for the b8.5 platform so am waiting on the new one. I got money from insurance for everything else (wheels, tires, and exahust).

Go drive them gently through the canyons today if you can. You need to scuff off any mold release chemicals without getting the tire too hot otherwise they will start feeling "greasy" tomorrow and you will lose grip without the usual feedback from the tire. I'm not going to name any names... Several of you were not next to the line, not even on it, but completely with two wheels in the oncoming lane. This can't happen again. It not only jeopardizes the safety of you and oncoming traffic but puts the entire group at risk for being pulled over while they go down the line looking for ticketable items. There was a bad "off" later that day and one 2 days prior not to mention the countless bikes that get laid down without going over the edge. I don't think we have room for error and suggest that if you have crossed the line, that it would be in the best interest of the group and yourself to consider cruising with the slower group until you have more familiarity with the Snake. If anyone feels that is too harsh chime in. I'm bringing this before everyone because the overall impact affects all of us and our ability to safely enjoy the canyons together. There was definite improvement in lane control versus last month but I don't think that it is unreasonable to expect that we keep our cars safely within your lane at all times save when giving room to safely go around bicyclists.
