I just purchased an '02 S6 Avant that didn't have any radio station reception. I read this thread (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/296231-General-Info-AM-FM-Antenna-Booster?highlight=radio+antenna) and decided to hunt for the antenna booster. Upon removing the drivers side interior panel behind the rear wheel hump I found that there is an empty styrofoam liner in the bottom of the cavity, and an empty metal frame above it in the middle of the cavity, and an unlanded ~10 pin round connector that is hanging in the cavity. Is there a component missing here? Seems to me there should be a jack and tire iron behind this panel, and probably something electronic with that round 10pin landed installed in that black metal frame. I need help, please!

Well, after a few hours of reading on here and searching vagcat I think I figured out that my car came with navigation that has since been removed, and the head unit was replaced by a unit from an A6 (4B0035195J). There is a loose ~10-pin round connector in the area where the jack should reside, and a bracket, and it looks like that is where the nav unit should be. In addition, when I removed the head unit there is something in there rattling around like change or loose parts, and there is a tape stuck in the deck. So now I have a complete train wreck.

I don't care about navigation, so I think I need to track down another head unit like this one that works. It appears that I can use any Symphony II head unit, but it may need to be programmed at the dealer to work with the other options on my car. Anyone have a head unit that works that they'd like to part with? Can anyone confirm what sound/nav/phone options came on the car based on my VIN? WAUXU64B52N140520
