01a 5-speed transmission

the transmission in my B5 a4 went tits up recently, so i'm on the hunt for a new one. if anyone has one in the bellingham area they want to let go, let me know. i'd be willing to go as far as seattle if needed.

will a B6 trans work in a b5? i thought all manual b6's were 6-speeds?

People swap 2.8 trans into B6's so I can't imagine it wouldn't go both ways. 6-speeds were only offered in sport package B6's in 2004 and 2005. Other then that they were all 5 speeds. One of the main reasons I love my Avant [:D]

i just posted up a thread in the a4 section about what all will work. if that 98 trans will work, and your willing to part with it i may just have to take it off your hands.

i need to get this thing back on the road so i can take it to pacific waterlands!

Yeah it will work. Flanges will be different though i believe. you would need to pull them from your b5 tranny. But it will still be a couple weeks since I don't have all the parts for the swap right now.
