I've searched around and have only seen one post on this, so I'd like to get more opinions. My white stitching on my steering wheel is getting dirty and I need a safe way to clean the stitching without hurting the leather and without fraying or messing up the stitching itself.

What has worked for you guys?

Thanks
David

A few options. Your favorite leather cleaner, and a very soft nylon brush will do the trick. Zaino Z-10 is perfect. You can also use a strong dilution (weak concentration?) of Woolite (10:1 water:product) or the same dilution of a good APC, a la Meguiar's.

Thanks for the options! Any thoughts on using Griots interior cleaner?

I've not tried it, but it looks like it'd be perfect. Good luck...

That will work fine since it is a very mild cleaner.

I was thinking the same thing. I will probably go the Woolite route. I am just afraid of fraying the stitching.

Thats my biggest worry. I think I'm going to spray a bit of Griots interior cleaner on a micro fiber rag and lightly dab the stitching.

I am so worried about this that I don't actually grip the steering wheel completely. I basically on hold on to the leather part. Hows that for ocd!

That stitching is pretty darn strong, but....I'm with you. I'm always very cautious as well. It's always wise to start as gently as possible, and work your way up. With the light color, I suspect you'll still need some agitation. The soft nylon brush will help. I use a Meguiar's brush, and the bristles are right around 1" long. FWIW, I have two more of the same brush, but I've cut down the bristles to effectively make them more stiff. I use those for removing wax residue from tight areas.
