B8 S4 Honeycomb Grille

Hey guys,
I've been interested in purchasing the RS4 honeycomb grille for my 2010 Audi S4 and I realized that there was a mass drop purchase for it last month, but I missed the deadline because I found out about it after the deadline passed. A friend looked around and found the grille from 2 different sources. The first one is the same one from mass drop where the original price is $500 off of Ebay and the second source is from Ventura Motor Sports but I saw the listing on craigslist. The second source is selling the same grille for $150. I'm just curious as to why there's a significant drop in price. To me, the grille's look exactly the same and both are ABS. Can you tell me the difference between the two and which you you personally purchase? Thanks!

Are you thinking of me? I had mine listed in the classifieds a couple of weeks ago, but I sold it already.

As for the difference in prices/sources that the op listed: Source 1 is full honeycomb - the entire grille is honeycomb and the material/finish is very high quality - gloss black finish. Source 2 has an integrated euro plate holder that is molded to the grille and is unremovable - cheap looking matte plastic finish.

Source 2 was the only option until the grille from Source 1 came out. People went crazy for that because the Source 2 grille is really not that great...

The grille sold by jcsportline is $220. How is that different from the Konzept Automobiltechnik $499 grille sold by eurosportgarage?

Yes it comes with the grille, but it is removable - it just clips on behind the mesh (there are no visible mounting points when it is removed).

Richi transfered the mounting hardware for the badge over to a S4 badge and mounted it on the mesh grille:

I haven't recieved mine yet. But from others that have they are saying that the jcsportline is a good fit.

IMO I wouldn't spend the extra $200+ for the other one.

What can you tell me about the black screen mounted behind the crash bar?

It's mesh welded to a custom frame mounted to the top and bottom of the crash bar and hit with black krylon

As far as I can tell, they're not the same. One appears to be made by Konzept Automobiltechnik and the other appears to be made by JCSportsline. Parts4Euro who is one of the forum sponsors looks like they sell the Konzept Automobiltechnik one for $30 less than the Eurosport Garage Ebay seller does here (www.parts4euro.com/DCShop/product_info.php?cPath=2_260_570&products_id=2061) and here (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/492833-Parts4Euro-com-*-S4-amp-RS4-Look-Slat-amp-Honeycomb-Black-or-Chrome-Grille-for-B8-A4-*). It appears that the JCSportsline one has a different filler plate with 2 instead of 3 mounting holes (http://www.jcsportline.net/en/product-detail-3313.html). JCSSportsline's website also mentions that they have have 3 of their own factories that design their products (http://www.jcsportline.net/en/aboutus-default.html).

So...unless Konzept Automobiltechnik buys from JCSportsline, changes the filler plate, and then resells to vendors, they make their own grill that's different from JCSportsline's grill. I couldn't tell you which one is higher quality though. I think a few people on here or the A4 forums bought the Konzept Automobiltechnik ones from the ebay seller prior to everyone else ordering the JCSportsline one. If you search for them, you might be able to PM them and get some more details on the grill to compare and contrast to the few guys like richib who already have one of the JCSportsline ones.

Yes it is a good site with great service but the honeycomb grille that they sell has a center europlate holder that's not removable.

I read on the site that it does not come with the license plate holder. Only the Ring and Badge holders.

Im getting ryan to make me one of those. As far as the crash bar protector you think I can just paint my silver (plate delete) one black as well?

Maybe calling it a "plate holder" is the wrong description. Whatever the solid center piece that runs across the grille is called, it's not removable on the one sold by ModBargains. The honeycomb grille that's sold on ebay by eurosportgarage as well as jcsportline has a center bar (they call it a europlate holder) that's removeable. What you see in the pic on ModBargains site it is what you get. Again, a good grille at a good price from a good company but it's different from the other two.

Looks to me that he has the stock center bar cover painted/dipped matte black installed over his crash bar, behind the grille. Am I seeing that right?

its not painted, its the black filler plate from the black optics grill but otherwise yes you're right

Richi that looks great! Did you just use 3m outdoor tape to attach it? I'm going to use the black one that came with my grill if it's that easy :)

For the first time, with someone to assist, plan on an hour. Yes, you can do it yourself; the DIY is easy to follow.
