View Full Version : Largest Rear Sway Bar and Where To Find It????

I was unfortunate not to have bought a car with the sport diff and am attempting to stiffen up the rear and dial out as much understeer as I can.

I have access to a 24MM H&R bar, but before I pull the trigger on that, I was curious if there was anything larger. If I can remember right the factory bars are 21-22 mm and I am looking for something a tad larger if available.

Any direction would be appreciated.... Thanks

Going too big is going to throw off the handling balance of the car. I would be careful going above 24.

I would not use the size of the bar as the determining factor. A lot of things affect the stiffness of a sway bar. Larger is not always better.

H&R is the best bet. My car became VERY directionally sensitive after I installed the bar - following every crevace and line and concaves in the road - ... it's within acceptable desire but too stiff is not good - it needs some flexibility or the car will not handle inperfections in the road and will loose grip in normal driving situations.

Unfortunately nothing really will replace the abcense of the sport diff... :(

Agreed H&R is your best bet.

Is it even possible to just install the front sway bar and not the rear? I say this because in normal applications stiffening up the front usually reduces under steer or plowing.
But I don't know if its even appropriate to install the front without the rear on the USS kit.

Installing just the front sway bar will increase understeer. More tightly connecting suspension components on one end of the vehicle actually decreases grip on that end relative to the other. This is why beefing up the rear sway bar will decrease understeer - by making the rear wheels lose traction faster. The whole is more than the sum of its parts if the right set of sways are installed on a platform (that is, stiffer sways don't necesserily mean less grip overall), so "general handling performance" might improve due to the elimination of inside-wheel lift and faster, more precise transitions, etc.

Hate to get off topic but does anyone know the diameter of Stasis rear sway? Can't find it anywhere.

EDIT: And for that matter, if all Stasis equipment is just rebranded, who makes the sway? The springs for touring suspension? Anyone venture a guess?

Ya I had it the other way around [:p]. So yea, it wouldn't make sense to install one and not the other. Thanks.

Why do you want this? What is the intended effect?

Not disagreeing ...just curious. Have you had both on your car?

HAHA I find it funny that there are still other sway bars on the market. I guess its because not everyone is as educated as us hardcore enthusiasts on Audizine.

To be fair, the USS Sways/End Links are the newest on the market... and I would also state they are the best. I had the Hotchkis, upgraded to the USS. I have a review waiting in the wings, just waiting on the accompanying video :)
