Hey guys, I have a 2013 S4 that I just installed the European code headlights and now the auto leveling feature doesn't work. I bought the right ones from Jans as he specified the right one and I know it is right cause it has all the proper balasts and motors attached, everything is attached as it should be exactly like the stock north american ones. Any ideas? I did one at a time and when starting the car I noticed the stock headlight autoleveling and the just installed ecode not doing anything. Then when I put the other ecode on same thing, both ecodes do not autolevel. Any ideas guys?

If you started the car without headlights connected (or maybe with two different lights connected? not sure) then auto leveling won't work and you need to reprogram them with vcds. Same thing happened to me when my car was in the body shop and they had to drive it into the spray booth with the bumper and lights removed, had a bunch of error codes.

You are right, I had one of each light hooked up to test and compare beam patterns and the OEM light was still adjusting but the ecode was not. I'm a noob to Audi, so I do have the warning light on about Adaptive lights. How do I change it in VCDS, it was 3am this morning when I called it quits, car is in getting 3M done today and brakes tomorrow so won't see it again till tomorrow night. if someone can give me a quick code path once I'm in the console with my VAG-COM that would be much appreciated. I did uncheck the north american headlight checkbox so that it disabled my lack of amber parking lights on the ecodes. is the option to change to ADS on the same menu?....sorry car is not with me right now and I was soooooo tired last night.

Really hope you didn't get the adaptive set, if you did and it sounds like you did PM me.
just saw that you're in canada, did you also have curve lighting on your car?

They are AFS with up and down and left and right motion on stock, the new lights were supposed to be the same. I PM'd ya.

I think you want to say "AFS" lights - ADS is Audi Drive Select.

Wish me luck, gonna try fixing it now and will post back if any of my steps work.
Only had it a few days and already put the big brake kit on, VMR v710 19x8.5 wheels, ecode headlights aand black edition brake vents/fog surrounds.

I wish I could give you a detailed response, but I did the same thing as you, was completely baffled for hours past midnight with vcds until I finally pushed the magic button and it worked. I sort of followed the steps on this website:
http://www.a4mods.com/index.php?page=webcontent/pages/autolevel.html&category=6
But that is an older version ov vcds so I also followed some steps from the vcds website. I was convinced that somehow my leveling sensor was bad, and then somehow it worked.
Oh and the car looks awesome, congrats.

FIXED!!! So, the AFS from the ecode lights were not initialized. Jens (LowestA4) who I bought them from told me to swap out the AFS module with my factory ones.....Done. That's all that I needed to do and all is good, I aimed the lights tonight and enjoyed the auto leveling and turning lights, very cool!! Now, just need to sell my factory North American headlights....
Richib, you are right as soon as I swapped wheels I said, man I need to drop this car just a bit.....will wait till the spring next year. Still waiting on AWE exhaust and then I'm tapped out for a while. For those wondering, the 380mm BBK from Stoptech fits the 5 rotor Titanium rims which I got factory installed (Canadian option, sorry folks across the boarder, there's always Hartmans). They'll be my Winter set and was happy they fit well over the BBK.

a big reason i went with the stop tech(like you know in previous posts) is because wheel clearance isnt an issue. i love those brakes, i had an oh shit moment where i dropped something and went to pick it up, looked back up to a car at a dead stop. i hammered the brake and the car came to an absurdly controlled stop. stock brakes and even the rs5 brakes would have put me into the back of that stopped car with the distance i had to stop. i just with there was a rear kit too, id love 380mm in the rear lol

Do all 2013 S4s have AFS?No, they don't. In the US they're only on the Prestige.

No, they don't. In the US they're only on the Prestige.
Same in Canada, only in the higher models. But, if anyone in the lower models wants to swap out to mine, they're for sell....little sales plug there.

Isn't it a lot more complicated than just dropping them into a non-AFS car? Aren't there extra modules and harnesses needed?

I believe so, I've never had to look into it so I don't know what is involved, I just know that it has been done.

I suspect such a large caliper in the rear would throw off the brake bias. Good to hear thet the Audi 19's clear in front without spacers.
