made the swap: S5 to S4

I'd just like to introduce myself as yesterday I traded in my S5 for a 2011 S4 with 18k miles.

The S4 came with Prestige package, S-tronic, ADS, sport dif, B&O, side assist, etc. The previous owner had also installed S4 winter mats, a full Stasis exhaust, tune (assume it's the old one) and I think a Strat/Roc-euro intake.

First impressions.. this thing is quick- even with the old Stasis tune. I can't believe the difference from my S5, which felt like a dog compared to this. Not only that, the handling with ADS on dynamic with the sports dif is incredible. It hugs exit ramps at high speeds with NO issue!

Few things I have to get used to: the S-tronic/DSG.. this is my first non-manual Audi. My past 3 were all manuals: A4, S4, S5. Second thing is the lack of the V8! My past S5 had a full exhaust and the S4 before that I had had a full catless exhaust, so I'm used the that V8 growl and rumble. I'm sure I will get used to the V6.

I'm happy I made the switch and look forward to putting some mods on it [:D] I have the Supercharged badges that I'll be putting on this weekend as a first mod.

The S4 definitely has more going for it I'm just in the love with the coupe body style. But I kind of would like a four door and some more power. What made you switch?

[drool] Personally, I love the shape and feel of the S5, but I would always go with the S4 because it is more practical having the 4 doors. i LOVED the look of my S5.. it was wide, aggressive, and loud. it attracted too much attention though, lol. i mostly went with the S4 due to practicality- 4 doors, way better on gas, big trunk. i tried to make the S5 practical by throwing my bike rack on it, but even with that, it wasn't that great. i plan on keeping this car a long time. i'm getting married next year and i don't think i could keep the S5 for another 5+ years..

thanks! i do prefer the AWE or Milltek, but for now the Stasis will do. i need a drop ASAP! i will most likely go with the KW adj spring kit for ADS cars. oh, and i wish we had the S5 sportback here, too!

haha, pretty close- i have phantom black on black, but no carbon fiber ): i have the textured aluminum trim on everything but the console surround, which is piano black. let me know what happens with your new stasis tune.. i want to get mine updated asap.

haha, yeah , i should mention that.. when i was at the dealer we hear screeching then see a car came flying off the main road and literally flip over the curb, sign, sidewalk and gate into the dealer and landed upside down in the lot. everyone started running and screaming.

oh, and it was a chrysler sebring CONVERTIBLE! i don't know how the kid survived that with out any injuries.. i watched him crawl out from under neath. it was insane.. i've never seen something like that!

Congrats man! Car looks great, and while I'll certainly miss seeing pictures of your S5, you're going to keep falling in love with the S4. I had a B6 S4 prior to this with a non-res Milltek setup, and while I still find myself occasionally missing the V8 sound, AWE helped renew my appreciation for the sound of a V6. The s/c whine and mpg screen reading >10 helps as well. Enjoy!

thanks man! i'm seriously going to miss that S5.. she was gorgeous and sounded incredible. i do love the S4 already though- better MPG, quicker, 4 doors, etc.. i plan to swap the STaSIS out and AWE eventually also!

Yeah - the upgrade is free - you just pay the $96 labor your dealership charges to pull it out and ship in for reflash. Sucks that the car will be down for a few days but your dealership should give you a loaner. My friend with the previous tune drove my car after I got the new tune and he was completely blown away - he didn't think there would have been such a dramatic improvement. I'd deff put that on the top of your list of things to do... (or maybe get used to the tune you have now for a few weeks so that when you upgrade you will REALLY notice a difference :))

I was going to do the same thing.... I went to trade in the s5 4 months after I bought it for the s4 from the same dealer.... The numbers they gave me were a slap in the face. Sold my s5 about 2 weeks ago (took six days and I got more than I paid for it). Just waiting to find the right s4. Congrats on the car man the switch I already know is well worth it.

I would guess they wanted the 3.0. On top of that you can you can get a little newer car with the S4 (ie: stat moved from an 09 S5 to 11 S4 for little cost), some want to more utility and some prefer the pre facelift so they move the S4 to get the 3.0.

as mop said below, i had an 08 S5 which was out of warranty and very impractical with the V8 and 2 doors. the S4 with the 3.0 is quicker, 4 doors and more practical. it doesn't look as nice, but once i get some wheels on it, she'll be close!

thanks! the peelers will be put to winter duty- i just got some winter tires last week. i will be going 20" wheels for next spring.. no point in doing it now for a month. i'm excited for next spring though, haha.
