Just wondering. I am likely upgrading to AWE with res-dp in the next few weeks and don't have anywhere to store the stock exhaust or even any way to transport it. What has everyone else done?

Wondering the same thing. I have an AWE exhaust already ordered and not sure what happens to the old exhaust. Did read in one old thread last month that the original exhaust is one piece, and cannot be transported in the S4.

The old exhaust is indeed one piece. You can take off the downpipes, but that's it. Mine is hung up from the ceiling of my shed right now.

Turned it into a bong.
Na, just left it at the shop that did the work. I don't know if they just cut it up or sell it or what. All I know is that there's no way the exhaust will fit inside the car.

Think it's worth asking them to remove the stock DP and return them to me?

Any concerns with no longer owning the stock exhaust?

Meh not really. If I were leased, yes. However, I figure that there are always ways to get a stock exhaust and it's not worth the hassle of getting the stock system chopped up, transported, and then stored in my garage when it's likely I will never use it again.

I had the shop scrape it. I honestly don't have the room, nor the means to haul around such a large piece of metal.
I made my peace with the exhaust being lost money if I ever end up trading the car in, unless I happen to find someone that wants to switch for stock + cash, though that's usually rare.

I had the shop cut mine in half (towards the rear, to separate the mufflers) so I could fit the full exhaust in the car. I'll just have them use sleeve clamps or weld the pipes back together when it goes back on in 1.5 years.

kept it - my next car will likely be the facelifted S4, in which case I'll reinstall the stocker when I trade it in, and slap the Milltek on the B8.5 if/when I get it. At a minimum the Milltek has to be worth $500+ if I go an entirely different route.

Most just have us ditch it, but when the customer would like to take it with them we cut it at the straight section after the mid-muffler.. that way it can be easily put back together.

Mine is laying against the side of my garage.

Threw it in the back of my buddy's pickup and it's currently in my garage. I'll eventually need it when I return the car to stock, so I didn't want to cut it up or throw it away.

I'd say yes. They're only about 3 feet each. You might need them if you decide to do an AWE exhaust.

Ok well pulled the trigger. TAG Motorsports had an AWE exhaust shipping to them next week so I ordered it! They said I should expect it in the next 2 weeks or so. Pretty pumped!
