I have no front plate on my Ontario car, my last car was the same. In 12 years I never got a ticket, dealer did a test drive (without me) and in 10 minutes he got a ticket for no front plate and driving without having license with him, lol.

Nice thing about the Audi is the front panel with the plate came off and I put the one without a plate on in about 10 minutes. With my previous car, I told dealer no plate, in new car prep they put one on so they had to swap out the entire bumper since they had drilled directly into it after being told directly not to. That was June 2000.

Must have been the bad karma from charging me $260 for a new key + programming $60 just minutes before.

Not everywhere. Dealers in large metropolitan or high income areas often charge significantly higher prices. Only reason being they can.

Its actually cheaper for me to buy a part from a dealer across the country and pay shipping, than it is to walk into the parts department at any local dealer.

What dealership was this? I'm surprised that the dealership would allow their techs to drive the car if it was outside of legal spec for Ontario.

Thats crazy!

Also if you think our key is expensive you should check the Aston Martin Crystal key

I'm betting they were romping on the car which attracted attention to them and ended up getting them a ticket.
Have you ever noticed the clutch feel after the dealership "test drives" your car? It's like they are a bunch of teenager valet parkers.

Keys pop up on ebay $20-80 all the time. Ebay.de
also has them.

It was unclear from the comments people made if it was going to work for an S4. They charge 1/2 hour for programming, $60, so ebay + shipping + 60 was just not worth the risk. I almost locked the single key I had in the car once, easy to do with these keys you don't need to put in the ignition.

I have Progressive and have opted for their Snapshot discount - so I have the little fob plugged into my car. Whenever I go to the dealership or to a shop for service and they test drive the car I can check to see afterwards how many hard brakes are logged and I can also see speed charts... they always spike when the test drives are done. I had my rear sway installed at a dealership and they test drove the car afterwards and I noticed 9 hard brakes! I'd say it's excessive... What can you do though... yell at them afterwards?!? lol...

I wouldn't think the typical S4 owner would get much of a discount, if any, with one of those Progressive OBD monitor devices. I could only imagine Progressive's reaction to launch control incidents. Is there some way to "temporarily" disable this electronic "tattle tail", or does it know when it's been unplugged or otherwise disabled by the car owner? I've read that State Farm, Geico and other insurers are going to be offering this "safe driver reporting device" in the future, but I'm not volunteering to get one.

It does not factor in acceleration... only hard braking... I got a 10% discount... which is better than 0... lol. I'm paying about 600 for 6 months... so 60 in savings per 6 months. If you unplug it - it knows you did... everything is calculated on an average also. So unless you drive like a maniac all of the time, you should see a bit of a discount...

Edit - also factors in what time you drive at and how many miles you are driving...
