Hi Guys,
I was just wondering if my car will come waxed or will I need to get it done on my own? Any other things I should do (outside of mods) within the first week of ownership?
Happy 4th to my southern buds!

If you're letting the dealer detail it before you get it, you'll get a weak version of wax/detailing. In my experience I'd say it's best to skip the dealer detail and get it done properly on your own.

dealer detailing = polish residue in the cracks

If you're really lucky the dealership will add the dealer installed swirl option for free if you let them wash/"detail" it for you. You'd be better off telling them not to touch it and either doing it yourself or finding a pro to give it a real new car prep.

Tell the dealer, sales rep, etc that you would not want it detailed upon delivery. And then have it detailed by your trusted detailer of choice.

IMHO, using wax is not protective enough for your paint. I suggest you use either one of the Zaino products or my favorite, Liquid Glass. Both are not waxes but protective polishes and sealants. They will not scratch your paint but provide longer and superior protection VS wax. They shine great as well. The first time some bird craps on your car and blrmishes your finish you will be sorry you used wax. Unless you have just applied it recently..

I let my dealer wash my cars all the time just so I can fix their mistakes.....

I used to be a detailer so I was a pita for my dealer. I kept sending it back pointing out the problems. Took them 6 tries to get it right. lol.

Get a clear bra installed. I installed the Xpel Ultimate full frontal, and while it is not cheap, you will be able to rest easy that the front end will not take as much of a beating from rock chips.

It honestly doesn't matter if you let them do it or not because they will do a terrible job and use terrible products. You should plan to do the car yourself at some point (doesn't have to be in the first week by any means) with your own products, lots of good stuff on carecaronline or detailedimage. don't just wax it though, use a micropolish to remove all minor clear coat blemishes that occur from shipping, handling, dealer detail, etc....and because you can make it loook better than new. Also, I'm a clear bar fan, so i would highly recommend that as well.
Personally, once i do any of our cars for the first time, i don't let anyone touch them....everything that everyone uses (especially the dealers) will strip even the best waxes and leave swirls, scrathes and spider-webbing in the clear.
