View Full Version : repair estimate
for the front right fender, and the very edge of a bumper
basically i was driving down the road and there was a deer in the middle of the highway. braked, was still going to hit it so i went right and decided to clip the accord next to me instead, as a sideswipe would be less expensive and less dangerous than a full on collision with a deer.
obviously my fault since I was changing lanes. everyone is closed today, however, i was just wondering what I should expect in terms of repair or replacement estimates before i start calling around.

I believe the final cost was in the neighborhood of $3700. That included a new headlight. (The mounting points of the headlights will break with even the slightest shift - they are extremely fragile)

3700 is right on the money... i have a 03 a4 and a lady backed up into me while parked.. barely did damage but involved the front bumper lower and upper .. head light, and side panel.. cost roughly 3700..
your headlight looks fine tho

Headlight looks ok so that should save you close to $1000. I feel your pain, my first A4 back in 2000 made it 17 days before some jackass pulled a u turn right in front of me to the tune of $11,000 damage and almost 60 days in the shop. Good luck gettin her fixed up.

It's funny I just had the front right fender repaired a few weeks ago (someone backed into me). Fixed like new with perfect paint match for about $2700. The fender cost was about $500 with the liner. The rest is labor (had to paint into the door and hood to blend).
My front bumper had the same amount of damage as yours and they were able to just repair it. Can't tell there was ever damage.

I say like $2000 - $3000.

$2200 for labor to paint the fender and blend?
wow i am having a hard time understanding where some of you are getting your numbers. $2-3k? unless i am missing something, to replace, paint and blend a fender should cost no more than $600-700. first of, a new fender for the s5 only costs $250 (http://www.audiwholesaleparts.com/parts/2010/AUDI/S5/?siteid=215295&vehicleid=1444804§ion=BODY%20HARDWARE&group=FENDER&subgroup=FENDER%20%26%20COMPONENTS&component=Fender). to paint and blend should cost 350-450 at most. i got a quote for around $700 at a shop that does near perfect work when this happened:

$3700 was my repair cost. My shop used all brand new OEM parts - they do not "shop around" for better prices on parts. I didn't try to drive the price down because I wasn't paying for it.
I believe the headlight was around $1000 so that added quite a bit to the repair cost.

that is understandable if you needed a new headlight. and it looks like your bumper was damaged as well. i was forced to pay out of pocket because that happened when my car was parked and the douchetard did not leave a note. and my insurance deductible is $800.
but $2-3k (as some other people suggested) to replace, paint and blend a fender is nuts since op doesn't seem to have damage to the headlights or bumper.
Quotes average out to about 1500-1600. New fender, paint, and hammering out the edge of the bumper and painting that too.
Lowest quote was 1100 but I know from past experience that shop likes to cut corners.

I got into a similar accident, and this is the route I wish I went. The body shop got the fender looking pretty good, but it isn't perfect - would have been cheaper to do this, and this way you know that it is OEM, and it's more like you never got into the accident at all

he has a '13 so that fender wont work
you may have damaged suspension components seeing as the wheel looks like it could have been hit

you sure about that? I think the fenders are the same - the headlight is the same shape in that corner, and the bumper looks like the same shape where it connects as well

No, I was just sharing the estimate for a very similar repair I had done recently.
