So i am in the process of building a sound system for the Avant and wanted to get few feedbacks on few subs that I am thinking about getting.

I am trying to stay small so 8" is probably the way to go for me. Two of the subs that I want to get are

JL 8W7 and Sundown SA-8

Both are rated at 500 RMS and both are good quality subs, however JL costs 2x more then sundown and that might be the kill factor for me.

Sundown retails for $159 shipped for a single 8" while JL still retails for over $370. The boxes I am looking are around $150 each.

Now I have not heard those subs in person but after reading a lot of reviews and feedbacks it looks like that they are pretty much similar to each other. I guess I just wanted to see if anyone used ether one of them in the past and what you have to say about it.

Thanks

I have two of the newer SA8v2's in my C5 sedan and they are awesome. I have them on 1500w rms and they sound great and pound, its very comparable in loudness to a 12" FI BL I had on 1200rms. Im not too sure how the older how the older SA8v'1s compare with the W7 but I know Jacob (owner of Sundown) has said that the W7 is the best 8"because sub in terms of loudness in a sealed box. But the SA8v2 will get louder in a ported box. To compare a SA8v1 and v2 the v2's handle more power and get lower than the v1's. The v2 is a beast weighing 22.5lbs. Go to woofersect.com the sell the v1 and v2's there. If you can I would look into building your own box. Hope some of this helps.
