My 2000 A4 Avant Quat. The shaft seal is bad on, however when looking at ECS there are multiple shaft seals some from $6, to $70.. What am I needing, I am pulling my hair out :'(

Its Passenger side output shaft seal behind what would appear the CV..

From what I recall, the passenger side actually has two seals, unlike the driver side which has one (and is a complete fucking pain in the ass because I'm dealing with it right now).

It also seems it's going to depend on which transmission you have.

It should be #14 in the diagram.

This is the seal - right front output shaft seal for Tiptronic:

You'll be draining out some of the gear oil, so you'll need some synthetic 75W-90 to fill it back up. It holds 1 qt, but you probably won't need that much.

Because it's a German seal.

By the way, walky is extremely helpful and listens to all sorts of shenanigans. He's been helping me with my same problem, but on the other side. Be happy you have the passenger side going bad and not the driver side.
