I'm about to order my valve guides and found that they have stock size and oversized valve guides. The AEB head that I have has no issues with the stock ones but I'm ordering new ones anyway. I found supertech stock sized valve guides for $6.16 a piece and it's the same price for the oversized ones.

Right now I have these for my AEB head....

Supertech valve springs and retainers, Supertech +1mm oversized exhaust valves and stock sized intake valves (single keepers), Supertech valve stem seals, AEB coolant flange, and stock cams until IE gets some in stock.

I'm unsure if I want to use the VVT or non VVT so give me your thoughts.

If your using OEM stock size now then you shouldn't need anything other then stock size if your ordering the Supertech set.

Here's the "stock size" supertech's

Here's the non supertech valve guides "stock size".

Notice the OD difference between the two....

Which one to get? I think I might just opt for the supertech's idk.

11.06 vs 11.045 which is 15 thousands of an inch. Either will work.

IE also offers their own valve guides but are a bit more expensive. http://www.intengineering.com/integrated-engineering-valve-guide-for-1-8t-and-2-7t-engines.html

If your head has had the guides replaced multiple times, you may eventually need to move up to oversize if they've been cut too much. The ID is the same, as "oversized valves" simply refer to the bottom/lower section of the valve/valve seat diameter. All the 5v stuff is 6mm stem whether it is oversized guides or not.

Only your machine shop is going to be able to tell you, but I very very rarely ever hear the need for oversized guides.

Supertech's high performance guides are shorter then stock so that they restrict less of the intake port. However, this means there is less support between the valves and the guides. I use stock style guides on my 2.7t and my 1.8t.

Thanks fellas for the great info.... The head I am using is a virgin AEB so as I assumed I will stick with the stock size valve guides. I'll order some ASAP so I can get this head to the machine shop.

Thanks again Mike and Max.
