So it’s been a week that I finished some what of a rebuilt on a 2001 Audi A4 AWM 1.8T Quattro Tiptronic – I put a new cylinder head, AEB pistons and rods with new rings, new rod bearings and a new timing belt. The car runs good, with no problems. The only thing is that it doesn’t have any power, when I’m at a full stop and I press the on the gas, it barly takes off. I’m not sure it’s normal until the engine breaks in.

I have another A4, even though it’s a 5spd, but it’s a 98 A4 1.8T AEB Quattro and it has a lot more pick up and it has over 150k.

Although 2-3 days ago I did get a check engine light – P0411 - Secondary Air Injection / Incorrect Flow , I did some research and I didn’t see that this error code causes loss of power. By the way the seconday pump is really loud, not use to that.

I saw some posts and I’m going to check for any leaks on the vacuum hoses, clean the combi valve. But if I don’t see anything wrong I’m going to do this http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/141240.aspx

Any ideas why I don’t have any power? The car did have over 200k – my thoughts is maybe the cat is bad and clogged up. Maybe I should switch it with a test pipe? I know the turbo is god because I switched the turbos from my other A4 and put a K04

I'm taking it you honed the cylinder walls with new pistons rings? Check your compression.

Yep I honed the cylinder walls and cleaned it, but it was the first time I ever did this type of work. So I hope I did it right. I used a flex hone with a 180 grid. I didn't check the compression yet because the attachment from my compression tool got stuck on the old cylinder head. This weekend I have to figure out how to get it out.

Silicone Carbide Abrasive 180grit

Was it ok to use 180 grit? This is what it looked like

You are supposed to use 180 grit, but it must be silicone carbide abrasive.

Oh I didn't know that, but this is the one I got and it saids - Brush Research FLEX-HONE Cylinder Hone, GBD Series, Silicon Carbide Abrasive, 3-1/4" (83 mm) Diameter, 180 Grit Size - So I hope it wasn't that big of a mistake. Thanks for your help!

That's the correct one.

So I did the compression and it's not good.

Cylinder 1 - 160
Cylinder 2 - 130
Cylinder 3 - 0
Cylinder 4 - 140

What do I do know? Do I have to restart all over? This really blows

Created a new post since it's different then just not having power now
