View Full Version : Waxes? Sealants?
So what is the most durable wax?
Most wet looking?
Who likes DODO products, chemical guys, poor boys, Zaino?
I currently use Einzett Glanz strictly on my car I put about 4 layers on after a full detail a couple of weeks ago and then I apply one layer every other wash. I am looking to see what people feel is the average durability of glanz and any other better protection waxes?

Oh man, so many answers... Here's my take.
The most durable wax? Collinite 845.
Most wet looking? Pinnacle Souveran....which has definitely been superseded since I was last in the market for a boutique "wet" wax.
All of the products you mentioned are great. Most detailers will say that Zaino offers probably the least corrective (i.e. abrasive or chemical polishing) abilities, but their sealant is very, very durable. Personally, I use Meguiar's polishes for finish correction, and either Blackfire, Wolfgang, or Four Star sealants for protection. Depending on the color, I'll top with a wax for the 'wet' look - Poorboy's Natty's series offers a great value, as does 1Z Glanz. Again...the market is full of great products.
A couple of things worth considering. The "wet" look usually comes from a bit of carnauba and a lot of nice smelling oils and fillers. Great for curb appeal, not so much for durable protection. Most sealants are optically clear, and do their work with polymers...great for protection, not always so good for eye candy. 1Z Glanz is kind of a 'hybrid', if you will...wax and polymers. (Meguiar's NXT is a similar brew, FWIW.) The other thing...your color. It can be difficult to add gloss and wetness to a white finish, especially when it isn't loaded with a lot of pearl or metallic content. It sounds to me like you've got a great approach that combines protection with nice looks.

Zaino is ridiculously durable (I got 6 months last time and I drive 20k miles a year and never go more than 2 weeks without a wash) and the protection is second to none among sealants. No shit my clearcoat after a year is virtually spotless. A bird can shit on your car or you can get a waterspot, and all you have to do is spray some Z6 on it, let it sit a couple mins, wipe off, and wait a few days and it disappears. It isn't terribly corrective, and Z5 contains fillers, so you'll want to use some kind of compound or polish first. If you correct your finish then apply 3-4 layers of ZFX accelerated Z2 following their process (wash with dawn, layer Z6 in between coats, and top with Z-CS), you're going to be really satisfied, though. It really brings out the metal flakes in a pearl paint (not applicable to you, I know) and makes your finish look super wet.

I would stick with Glanz, its a pretty good sealant. maybe topped with DODO SN for a brighter look.
here is a Z4M I topped with DODO SN.

Who did you have detail it? In the detailing world they say paint correction is 90% of the look and the wax is 10%. Personally I prefer the sealant only look, makes the paint look very wet, glossy and bright. I also like Swissvax Concourso if I use a wax. Lasts 5-6 months.

I love Menzerna Power Lock (sealant); durable, super slick, looks nice.
I'm a sucker for easy application coupled with usefulness. In the PNW, it's great to shed rain like no one's business.
