I have an 06 a4 with Symphony. Hate it. Use my galaxy nexus for music and my life

I am a huge fan of keeping my interior clean looking, Aka OEM.

Looking to retain factory clean look but add an Aux input (now) and Sat radio (in time)

About to purchase a symphony II plus off ebay for 150-200 however i am having a hard time sourcing the harness and if i do i'm looking at another $80-100? Plus if i added in Sat that would be another $$$? coding which i just read about and unaware of.

At this point maybe an aftermarket unit such as Pioneer AVHP4400BH might be a better choice? About the same price but offers many more features plus Bluetooth!

FYI- not that it really matters but I am a MECP advanced cert installer as it was my last profession while in school so i'm very knowledgeable in aftermarket

My questions to you all are;

#1 reading what i wrote would you go oem or aftermarket?

#2 if Oem where can i get that harness?

#3 If aftermarket, has anyone has issues with blown speakers etc? I haven't looked into the specs of the sound system of this car but i believe i can reuse the stock speakers and rear amp. Has anyone found a bug free steering wheel control?

I have an 06 with the Symphony and kind of hate it as well. Constantly going back and forth between OEM and aftermarket. The way I see it if you are sticking with OEM, then you may as well go all out and get an RNS-E, the Symphony II+ only really adds MP3 CD capability over the Symphony II. For the OEM harness, have you tried kufatec? And if going aftermarket get the steering wheel interface that enfig sells. If I remember rightly you will end up spending about $150+ on the various harnesses if going aftermarket, might be something to consider.
