View Full Version : Length difference between A8 and A8L

Anyone have any idea what is the difference in length between the A8L and the A8? AudiUSA.com doesn't specify. I know the difference between the 745i and 745Li is maybe 6 or so inches and was wondering if the A8 and A8L were similar. I heard from one source that the difference was only 2 inches, which seems a little ridiculous. Why so little difference if it's going to warrant it's own version, you know? The L is a hell of a long car, though.

I'll bet it's 6 inches or a little less. I have yet to see the shorter version.

The shorter version went on sale only relatively recently. I've seen em on showroom floors but don't recall seeing any on the road just yet. All the D3 A8's I've have been A8L's.

oooooh, i almost forgot, when does the A8 start getting the shield grille like on the VV12?? Model-year 2006? 2006.5?

2006 it gets the new grill. Should start seeing in the next couple months.

Also, when my dad bought his A8 (short wheel base), I think he said that they make a short for every 8 long wheel bases

The difference is about 5.11 inch

I still don't get the point. Who's it hurting if I have a gazillion fafillion posts? I'm contributing them in obviously the most popular part of AZ.

I can only talk about the A8 for so long. Current events are where its at.

I just know how it works. As to why specifically it was implemented, maybe it had something to do with post-whoring? I'm not sure....consult an admin [:p]


post-counters, though, seem relatively pointless, to me at least. I don't necessarily see their purpose...

I don't see what it hurts either. Most of my posts are in OT since there is almost no A8 activity on this board.

Not all of us on AZ want to talk about the 1.8T A4.

Hmm, probably. I'd check with one of the admins for info like that...but I'm not sure.

Go to your profile, click 'Search for all posts by this user' (upper right), the total number of topics found should be your post count.
