what are you guys doing to protect the underside of your cars. I lowered mine and living it pittsburgh pa with a gravel driveway I have tore the shit out of that plastic one. I am looking to help protect my oil pan and transmission oil pan. any suggestions?

I have race springs in NYC, i took that plastic off, just be carefull, i don't have a problem, only when i am going too fast on the highway and the road is uneven.

theres a company that makes an aluminum one i think... do a search.

the plastic is fine for things being thrown up there during normal driving. I think its $150 at ecs. I find it worth it.

dieselgeek has both an aluminum and a steel pan. aluminum one should be enough for road debris, steel one will pretty much protect you from bottoming out.

I wouldn't recommend removing it.

It's great protection from debris and dirt. It if gets scraped up so what... at least you won't have other shit getting in there.

And BTW, Audi Engineers put it here for a reason. You remove it, and you'll find out someday why they put it there to begin with!!!

dieselgeek only has the fiber reinforced plastic (or something like that) for the b5's...

I've seen muffler shops install removable metal skid plates before. It won't need to be that big, and even then holes can be drilled in it to decrease weight.
