hey guys i was looking into lowering my b7.. I saw a couple of sets of springs ranging from 200-300.. they all say they drop about 1.5-2 inches which is what im looking for, my question is would i need to change my shocks too? im a non s-line.. Also, if i would get just the springs assuming im alright on the oem shocks how hard is the install? let me know, thanks in advance and leave your feedback with some pics if you have ran some of these springs as well!

I've seen some people say you can run with oem shocks... for a little while. Chances are your shocks will wear out REALLY quick due to higher spring rates. Most people say go ahead and do the spring/shock combo or just get coilovers if you can swing it.

I bought eibach springs for my A4 & A6 with standard OEM shocks, after 2 years with the OEM shocks on the A4 I havent had any problems and the A6 just turned 12 months and no problems either.

As far as lowering height 1.5 should do the trick.

I suggest you check out the eibach ones tire rack.

search for S5-ARCH springs, they lower your car about 1.5 - 2 inchesand you can keep your stock struts

Your stock struts will work fine with most aftermarket springs with a drop less than 2"
Upgrading to used s-line struts will reduce bounciness
Adding b5 spring caps will lower the fronts .5" with no added stress on struts.

Installing is pretty straight forward, but the rear spring installation is quite a journey in itself.

If you search theres tons of pictures.

I have yet to see a set of failed OEM shocks due to lowering springs. The added stress is a lot
Of Speculation IMO. And you will likely See more stress from the bump
Stops Bouncing off the shocks if you don't cut them.

That's my observation, and if you ask Camoto I'm on here a lot [rolleyes]

Have had H&R sport springs with OEM shocks for over a year with no problems and it is the perfect drop for me
