My hands are all bandaged up and i can hardly type haha
all 8 bolts opened no problem, they weren't hard at all to crack open. but THE DAMN HEAT SHIELDS!! Are you kidding me that took forever just getting the wrench on the nuts cause that shit in the way! How do they even come out??
Really wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be.
Now the question is....Do I do the Piggie Pipes (gut these) or get some SSAC Downpipes...What would be the better choice? What do you guys think?

Most exhaust shops won't do it because they can't due to emissions. But if yours will then I'd go for that

save the cash and gut them yourself, wear a good breathing mask.

You will get more flow out of the SSAC down pipes than gutted stockers. Really depends on how much you want to tune it I guess.

I can't weld so. What should i do just make some good markings, gut the pre-cats then bring it to an exhaust shop and have them re-weld it?

What kind of hp gains do you think I'll see with the gutted stockers?? and how about the SSAC dps?

Really only a few hp without additional tuning. Will benefit from turbos spooling up a bit faster and a bit less back pressure. I think you really notice the performance gain when you go a bit beyond the typical canned maps.
I am not expert [:|]

Does NY do emissions inspection? If they do, do they do a visual check to see if the cats are in place?
If no, I say do the SSAC downpipes, with some rear o2 spacers to keep the cat eff code away, and have a more free flowing exhaust. Just what I would do/did.

Yes we have emissions, but as long as its visual and no CEL's. It passes.. Pre 96 OBD 1 cars get the sniffer.
I am going to be doing an ECU tune in a few weeks anyway. So bottom line what would be the best bet for me??

SSAC will flow more than piggies due to how small the stock piggies taper to. I have piggies on the car now (for years) and have SSAC's in the garage for my next setup. You can use the main DP part and then do custom flex pipes and custom exhaust from there back. Piggies are a nice improvement but the SSAC are bigger so they will definitely flow better, especially if you are dual 2.5" from there back. In that case the piggies would be the main restriction in the exhaust since they are only about 2" diameter after the pre-cat.

This is what VAST claims about stock piggies:
"Improve turbo response and eliminate any local heat issues directly behind turbo. Boost will build much earlier and have more flow capability throughout the rev range. Expect 20-30hp at the crank and 2-3 tenths and 2-3mph faster in the 1/4 mile."

Thanks for the replies i think im going with the SSAC pipes since i have a lot of plans for the car those would be better in the long run

My car is stage 3 and I have piggies with no problems. Keep in mind, we have dual exhaust, whereas b5s4's only have single, so our exhausts are less restrictive from the get go.

S4's have dual exhaust as well

I think SSAC is the way to go. If mine was not an '05, I would have gone that route. From what I understand, my turbine housings are different and the "S4" style DPs don't fit.
One day, if I ever go Stage 3, ill pitch my piggies for ...probably 034's. Until then, I'll rock my piggies. [up]

SSAC Downpipes it is, once I Can get in contact with the guy on here to order them. Does anyone know if the ones for $200 have cats? Cause I see the option for Race 200 high flow cats for another $75.
I Want them NOWWW hahah
