B7 S4 Question

Hey figured i should try posting this here instead of where i did originally.
Hey everybody just bought an 08 S4 the other day and i had a question. Actually a little info first. Im new to the German community. Always bought american and i enjoyed my 94 Z28 (had it pretty beefed up with mods) very much. My sister and buddy got me interested in german cars (he has an E550 coupe and she has a 2012 A5). Sorry if i dont know certain terms yet because im seriously new anything audi. i just learned i had a B7 S4 when i bought it two days ago.

Alright to my question, my S4 has the navigation and audi MMI on a screen with navigation. It has the ipod adapter in the glove box as well. I have the newest ipod and when i plug it in the adapter it always comes out over bumps. (the adapter is just kinda there and its supposed to stick in not very well designed). Does anyone know of an Ipod cable extension or something i could do? I went to bestbuy, walmart, and radio shack and none of them had anything. Only the usb to ipod. Also is there anything i can do to have the tracks show up or am i going to have to just get an SD card and put it all on there. Thanks guys

Edit: i know i have the RNS-E and the Ipod plugs right into the glovebox area. would this cord make the songs pop up on the screen?

Your B7 S4 does not have MMI, that only came in the later (B8 vehicles). Take a look at this forum sponsors website, I don't have an iPod but a lot of people recommend the 2point5 spec dock (http://enfigcarstereo.com/2POINT5_SPECDOCK.html) they sell.

As for the track information showing up, I have no idea, but would not be surprised if you can't with the RNS-E. Also, not sure if you know but the older RNS-E has an 8GB (pretty sure that's the size) limit on the SD card you can use. The latest RNS-E lets you use larger cards.

Oh i thought i had MMI because when i turn my car on, the big tv screen that uses my radio, navigation, telephone/bluetooth says MMI when i turn the key. Still learning. I had no idea that its only 8GB and will keep that in mind if i decide to go the SD card route. Thanks for the info.

Weird, I always thought that MMI was only on the B8 and on vehicles, maybe its just a message that pops up on the RNS-E as well. It could just be that since its now all integrated, Audi calls it MMI, instead of it being an RNS-E which is an MMI (multi media interface).

It must just be a naming thing, Audi call the navigation systems in the A6, B8 A4 an MMI, in the B7 it is an RNS-E. Even though it's also an MMI. Off topic, what is that button between your ESP and Passenger Air Bag button?

its for my rear sun shade. i push it and a electonic sun shade for my back window comes out covers it from the inside.
