I finally was going to make the jump to a catch can but the one I wanted is no longer for sale. The price was right at $215 at namotorsports and not having to cut or mess with my engine cover was a big plus. Most catch cans that I find for our car are around the $300 mark which just seems way too pricey for what you are getting. Does anyone know where I can find something equivalent that is in the same price range?

Its possible they stopped selling it for a reason...

What is the reason? I've had mine for some time and its problem free. I lurk now and again on this board but I haven't posted in some time......sorry if I missed something.

Well personally I think the stock PCV system is the best solution, and that the BSH is ignoring/deleting some of the necessary block breathing functionality that is necessary for our engines.
That an many have had issues with smoke billowing out the exhaust because of higher crankcase pressures due to this mod. I looked into it a while back and thought about doing it, but after reading about what the PCV system was designed to accomplish, I decided I wanted to retain its functionality rather than defeat it.

The stage 2 was the full catch can solution and I have never heard of any billowing smoke issues due to it. They still sell the block off plate which has been problematic.

^^ Haha. JB Weld FTW!
Anyway, not trying to stir up the pot on this. I didn't realise you were really speaking of the Stage-2 component of the kit. Maybe they weren't happy with the catch cans or quality of the kit or something and are working on a revised solution? No idea really.

I run the Stg 2 kit as well. Every once in a while on my very first hard pull I'll see a "puff" out the exhaust....
I'll tell ya....I love this car but the 2.0 really is a headache.....I want desiel!
Good to see some of the same players around after all these years.

I ended up talking to BSH and they are working on a revised version so we'll have to keep our eyes out for it.

Yeah do not, I repeat, do not try to make your own kit lol
Fortunately the buy nice or twice comment doesn't apply when you make something from what you got. But jb weld doesn't agree with oil/heat :-)
Worked great while it was on haha

THIS!!! I'm looking in to the possibility of swapping in the 2.0 TDI engine from an 05.5 Passat. Colorado laws (I think) state an engine swap must be the same year or newer. Since mine is an 05.5 I'm just inside the limit.
As for the BSH PCV fix, I have it on my 2.0T and have no issues with smoking or otherwise. My PCV was going bad and this was 1/2 the price of OEM replacement parts. We also have "drive by" emissions testing here in CO, so I can get past any visual inspection issues that way. [:D]
